Jottings: Invoking the spirit of Rosa Parks and words of Jan Jones Blackhurst, casino veteran Richard Schuetz calls for civil disobedience in gaming. Specifically, he urges women in the industry to boycott conferences that present “panels” (all-male panels) … The Nevada Gaming Control Board has split at least one baby in the Caesars Entertainment/Eldorado Resorts merger. Operation of the sports books will be outsourced to William Hill. It’s a big loss for Caesars … The latter, meanwhile, has ordered all employees to get tested for Covid-19 by July 17 or else, as in “or else you’re off the schedule.” Great way to get an unwanted vacation … If you want to get out of Los Angeles right now, we’ve got good news. The “green buses” of FlixBus are resuming service to Sin City with rates starting at $30. It’s cheaper and less enervating than driving, and far less of a hassle than flying.

I just watched the video you posted, that is an articulate young man… Nevada needs to pay attention to Florida right now, Florida is also hugely reliant on tourism, they have no state income tax as well… Florida opened up way too early, and Florida has not been honest and open about the COVID statistics, its about to get very rotten in Florida… Keep an eye on the hospitals, in Florida its getting dire, you cant have tourism in your state if there are no hospital beds or staffing, yes COVID has a long gestation, but tourists have accidents and heart attacks too. Fortunately for Nevada you have an independent and sane Governor, he runs the state with the states interests front and center. I hope Las Vegas stays open, heck I hope Los Angeles stays open, but we all need to prepare for some bad case scenarios unfortunately…
The primary reason that Las Vegas might shut down is the fact that that it is not fun for the customer. Casinos are not set up for social distancing and the restrictions that have been put in place are a hassle and detract from the gaming experience. I think that casino patrons will tire of this and stop coming to casinos.
