It’s no joke. The ex-veep is part of a new entertainment regime at the Atlantic City Hilton. After nearly mismanaging the property into extinction, owner Colony Capital has given President Michael Frawley $20 million, which Frawley’s plowing into a new Kerry Simon restaurant, fewer — but newer — slots, a “daylife” area and, yes, barnstorming old politicians (Bill Clinton is also among those announced).
Given how much money the A.C. Hilton continues to lose, Colony may have waited too long to rejuvenate what had become a grind joint. However, if the old gal goes down it won’t be without a fight. S&G salutes Colony and Frawley for doing right by her.
Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck are coming to the Hilton to speak, too?
Oh, goody! I can hardly wait to see the pictures of the Tea Partiers’ signs all up and down the Boardwalk. I wonder if CC will post ‘No Guns Allowed’ signs in roped-off areas around the cashier cage – then get sued by “Open Carry” adherents (& Beck) who resent having their 2nd Amendment rights trampled.
BTW, if cigarette smoke is allowed in the casino, does that permission extend to gunsmoke, too?
I will give the Atlantic City Hilton credit for upgrading their property and trying to bring in some new customers. Their summer beach bar is going to be like “Nikki Beach” according to the spokesperson in the article. The Tropicana in Las Vegas hired Nikki Beach to run their “day pool” parties so hopefully both places will be fun in the sun and make lots of money.
I’ll bet Clinton has better showgirls than Cheney does.
Novel at the very least and in some instances very telling for today’s political world. As that line between ‘entertainment’ and politics is likely to be blurred a bit further if this is successful.
To a certain degree it reminds me a bit of what Marrandino did in Vegas, finding some new options to book. (i.e John Edward, Braxton, and if he wasn’t responsible for Prince, at the very least might have inspired some of it). Once he had the masses moving to his property again, he put in some solid attractions, perhaps Colony will follow a similar path.
I should clarify a bit too, Marrandino wasn’t necessarily groundbreaking as Dion and Sylvia Browne were already booked at other properties, but he did manage to find very solid alternatives for the spot.

They didn’t make the trip from New York City to AC because an Atlantic storm stopped their helicopter from taking off, and NYC traffic jams stopped them from being driven to AC. They rescheduled for later. Their canceled “show” was reportedly sold out, but apparently no frustrated fans shot anybody… yet.
