In this absolutely brand-new video clip, Encore designer Roger Thomas provides a backstory on the inspiration and fabrication for the chandeliers in the casino. The follow-up video ought to be Steve Wynn explaining why the Macao-style division of the casino floor into intimate chambers laid an egg with Vegas gamblers … but you have to give those men props for trying something different and innovative. Encore’s casino is still way more better, in my book, than Aria‘s, the latter seemingly crafted by someone from the planet Dagobah.

I think the Encore chandeliers look like something that would happen if Libarace had mated with the Pink Panther. I actually like the dark, sleek look of Aria better than any of the fru-fru at Wynncore though the classic style of Main Street Station, especially the fantastic bar, beats anything on the Strip.
They look like an octopus’s arms holding up a bunch of boudoir lamps.
I agree that Main Street Station looks mighty good.
I only made one pass through the Aria casino on my last trip to LV, but a sci-fi locale other than Dagobah came to mind, given the curvature of is floor plan. Walking through the Aria, I felt like Dave Bowman walking through the modern, yet austere interior of Stanley Kubrick’s Discovery spacecraft in 2001. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vEDmNh-_4Q&feature=related
