From the look of things, Sheldon Adelson‘s projected late-March opening date for Marina Bay Sands seems a mite optimistic.

Adelson has given an interview with Forbes magazine on 12.17.09 that he expect to open the Sands Resort in Singapore in March or April next year.
You will notice also that he has filed a 10K statement with the SEC regarding the opening of the Singapore Resort. An interesting item is that he has to finish the whole Resort by 12.31.11 or else the Singapore Government will call in his security bond of almost $2B. Funny there is no news about the other Genting Resort having to give the Singapore Government a similar undertaking.

In today’s interview with CNBC Asia, Adelson clarified that the opening will be in April next year. Since the stuctural work for the project is still ongoing I would say that is abit optimistic.
The Singapore government is ensuring that Adelson don’t do a Macau here i.e. leaving buildings partially build and rotting away and hence in my opinion entered into this further agreement with Adelson’s Sands.
