My best pal, Fasolt, known to S&G readers, lost his battle with kidney failure and lymphoma earlier this week. The good people at Mountain Vista Animal Hospital put the big fellow out of his misery, illness having shriveled his once-enormous frame to mere skin and bones. His body was still barely functional but his mind and spirit had already checked out of this vale of tears. From May 1995 until Wednesday morning, he’d been the greatest constant in my life; the sadness following his death is impossible to put into words. I’m trying to keep my head in the game but I’ll confess that it’s a real struggle sometimes.

David, my condolences You’ve had much more than your share of of sad news in the past year. 15 years? A good run, but obviously not long enough. All animals are wonderful, but cats are unique and special in our lives.
I’m sorry. That’s why I don’t have pet dogs anymore.
My thoughts are with you. I too just had to put down beloved dog Pyro for the same exact problems. She also lived a wonderful life of nearly 15 years. Just remember they are really never gone if you keep the memories.
Our kitty, whiskers, also passed away from kidney failure and
lymphoma on memorial day 2009 at the ripe ol’ age of 16. Cats
are unique and awesome. Their love is pure and deep and never
forgotten. My sincere condolensces…
I’m very sorry to hear the news, David. As the butler to 3 of my own, I know how special cats are in our lives.
As a fellow cat lover who has lost a couple of feline friends in the last couple of years, I feel your pain and you have my utmost sympathy. Dan R.
My condolences, always so hard to lose a good friend.
