My track buddies and I knew horse racing was in big trouble back in the 1980’s, we were some of the very few young people that loved it, the only way anything can survive is if people from all generations participate. Golf and tennis are two other examples, although golf is getting a boost from the pandemic. Unfortunately for me and many others, poker is gasping for air, I am on the younger side of local players and I am sixty, something is going to have to change before we all die out… Casinos better be paying attention, they are in line to die out. I suggest all casinos immediately ban smoking and strongly advertise that you can play and breath clean air, young people dont want to suffocate, and the smokers can go outside…
My dream is a dog centric Racino, that is also a gate to grave dog rescue. There are enough dog lover groups that could provide honest and high integrity oversight that would guarantee humane care and treatment. Along with honest monitoring of the dog’s race history, which would provide accurate class placement and participation.
