“Fremont [Street] Experience was ahead of its time but now it’s having its renaissance … Now, if you go down there on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday [night], it’s the new Bourbon Street, only a lot cleaner.” — MEET CEO Paul Maddux, who recently opened a high-tech, mid-size exhibition space downtown.

I like the Fremont Street experience a lot but Mr. Maddux should not comapre it to Bourbon Street. I have been to New Orleans and Bourbon Street is great, dirt and all.
The Fremont Street Experience is certainly tamer than Bourbon Street – but it also doesn’t have as many guys puking on your shoes, or trying to pick your pocket – and the bare-breasted ladies are behind closed doors.
And don’t get me started on the Louisiana coastal humidity; at least Fremont Street has misters to somewhat counteract the LV “dry heat”.
There is definately a lot more puke on Bourbon Street but it is also surrounded by the French Quarter with all sorts of interesting attractions and drips with history. In contrast, there is very little life even a block or two off of Fremont Street — maybe the Mob Museum and if anything ever happens with the Lady Luck site will change the neighborhood, not just Fremont Street. The rennovation of the Gold Spike is a good sign, the dead zone that is Neonopolis is a bad sign.
