“Nevada itself would love to be receiving more revenue from casino gaming, but there’s precious little its legislators or governor can do to expand gambling in the state, save thinking good thoughts (although slot route operators would likely settle for a repeal of the tavern smoking ban). It’s the market, not the government, that’s effectively regulating the size of our industry … Given this perspective, it should be clear that doubling, or even quadrupling, the size of the industry [nationally] won’t make much of a difference; even if legislatures permitted it, there just isn’t enough gambling to go around.” — David G. Schwartz, director of UNLV’s Center for Gaming Research saying things politicians and self-cannibalizing casino companies need — but don’t want — to hear.

True, every last word.
Given current unemployment and gaming revenue, the smoking ban needs to be revisited when it pertains to gaming.
I am not a cigarette smoker, but I’m not going to get lung cancer because I get a sniff of smoke while I’m in line at 7-11. (The crap I’m buying in there is most likely much more damaging to my health than two minutes of second hand smoke).
Cigarettes are a legal product and a bar owner should have the right to decide their consumption on his property. Those who believe that second hand smoke will kill them have the option to boycot businesses that allow smoking.
For those progressives who believe that the government has every right to tell a business owner what legal activities to allow on their property, look at it in the terms of fairness:
Is it fair that a big casino can allow smoking, but tell a bar and grill (essentially a small casino… most of them would probably go out of business without gaming) that they can’t?
Simply not fair.
