Movable Buffet, R.I.P. One of S&G‘s Seven Essential Web Sites is no more. The demise of Richard Abowitz‘s highly entertaining chronicle of the eccentricities of Sin City is not only a benchmark of Las Vegas’ decline but that of the Los Angeles Times, a great j0urnalistic institution that has suffered one indignity after another since the Chandler family cashed out its ownership.

What I keep hoping for is that someday the LA Times will do what the NYT is doing in San Francisco (I know because I’m here and seeing all the ads in BART stations) and make a Sunday (and maybe Friday, but I don’t think we have enough news) edition for Vegas with a local news section.
It might not be the death knell for Sherm, but at least it would be one more nail in the coffin.
This is bad news. Always a highlight when Richard had a new post, definitely will be missed. Hope he lands on his feet with something that gives him similar opportunities to provide perspective on Vegas.
