It may not be a David Lean epic but this video gives you an idea just how heavy the waters were on the Las Vegas Strip, over by Harrah’s Las Vegas. Strangely, local TV stations are concentrating upon the effects of the flooding on outlying parts of the valley, venturing no nearer the Strip than the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and the routes to and from the airport.

As you mentioned David, they are to busy shilling for the new $17 million buffet at Caesars. Maybe the $17M would have been better spent of lipstick and rouge fixes. It’s amazing how narrowminded the thinking is there. Is having a buffet so important? It’s not 1990 anymore. Furthermore, I’m thinking there are more than enough food options at Caesars and the Forum so people won’t go hungry!
One of my fave Vegas memories was in the mid-1990s when the actual casino at the Las Vegas Hilton was flooded. Bit by bit, the staff closed sections of the casino while hardcore craps and blackjack players barely seemed to notice. Anyway,Lake Mead surely needs the water!
Finally a way to get rid of the smut pedaling porn slappers that even the ACLU can’t legislate. It should rain more often…
Porn slappers are just as Las Vegas as near-edible shrimp cocktails. In fact, they are people, human beings. Only people interested in what they offer take them up. I don’t take them, and they have never been offered to my two boys. People on the Strip that loudly promote discount show tickets bother me much more, but I respect that they are trying to make a living like all the rest of us.
