The official word is that eateries <strong>The Ming<\/strong> and <strong>Cockeyed Clam<\/strong> are closed for good. As for the others, operating hours are being truncated &#8220;periodically. Nothing is written in stone.&#8221; Not even the future of &#8220;Impotent Palace,&#8221; it seems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>G2E<\/strong> attendees taking the monorail north to the <strong>Las Vegas Convention Center<\/strong> were treated to the daily spectacle of <strong>Harrah&#8217;s Entertainment<\/strong> demolishing the last of the apartment buildings that sat on the acreage it&#8217;s accumlated between Audrie and Koval lanes. Now it&#8217;s nothing but magnificent desolation, save for some fugly, <!--more-->little, white apartment shoeboxes owned by holdout <strong>Oscar Nu\u00f1ez<\/strong>, not to mention <strong>Columbia Sussex<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Westin Casuarina<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ColSux up to old tricks<\/strong>. The Kentucky-based hotel\/casino operator is embroiled in a contract fight in Baltimore that bears <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/baltimore\/stories\/2008\/11\/17\/daily24.html\" class=\"broken_link\">a striking resemblance<\/a> to the long-running stalemate that took place at the <strong>Las Vegas Tropicana<\/strong>. (A conflict that was resolved in swift and statesmanlike fashion by <strong>Tropicana Entertainment<\/strong> CEO <strong>Scott Butera<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n<p>The Trop&#8217;s <strong>Culinary Union<\/strong> employees had it easy &#8212; ColSux&#8217;s <strong>Sheraton Baltimore City Center<\/strong> workforce has been in a <em>two-year<\/em> standoff. <strong>Bill Yung<\/strong>&#8216;s minions are dangling a princely <strong>$728\/year<\/strong> raise &#8212; which they propose to offset with a &#8220;moderate&#8221; increase in health-benefit costs. So don&#8217;t go out and spend those 728 clams (before taxes) in one place, guys!<\/p>\n<p>Taking a page from the Obama campaign, <strong>Unite-Here<\/strong> has upped the ante by <a href=\"http:\/\/media.www.thetowerlight.com\/media\/storage\/paper957\/news\/2008\/11\/20\/News\/Students.Protest.In.Baltimore-3554055.shtml\" class=\"broken_link\">enlisting student activists<\/a> as foot soldiers in its war with ColSux. Hmmmm.
