Leven&#8217;s unconcern about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/news\/toronto\/las-vegas-sands-supports-a-casino-at-convention-centre\/article7921018\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">having only 2,000 parking spaces<\/a> (for a $3 billion, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newstalk1010.com\/News\/localnews\/blogentry.aspx?BlogEntryID=10496047\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">three-years-in-the-making<\/a> casino-hotel) indicates he&#8217;s working off the same 1:1 ratio of cars to hotel rooms used at <strong>The Venetian<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newstalk1010.com\/News\/localnews\/blogentry.aspx?BlogEntryID=10496047\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">but locals don&#8217;t seem to be buying into his math<\/a>. Sands would be &#8220;open&#8221; to assisting <strong>Ontario<\/strong> if infrastructure improvement is required, he added, seeming to promise something while actually committing to nothing. You&#8217;ve also got to wonder if Adelson&#8217;s planning to import his <a href=\"http:\/\/peoplesworld.org\/billionaire-casino-owner-adelson-takes-aim-at-unions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">jihad against labor unions<\/a> to <strong>Canada<\/strong>, a move that would cement his image as the prototypical Ugly American. Even so, if the casino is to be at <strong>Metro Convention Centre<\/strong>, Sands makes a far more logical choice than <strong><!--more-->Dan Gilbert<\/strong> and <strong>Gary Loveman<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Rock Caesars Gaming<\/strong>, an entity not known for its exhibition experience. Adelson&#8217;s people would also be better equipped to deal with new gambling-regulation methods, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ottawacitizen.com\/health\/Tracking+cards+planned+casinos+head+addiction+says\/7855751\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">a technologically more advanced version<\/a> of what they currently must abide by in <strong>Singapore<\/strong>. However, Leven&#8217;s lowballing of traffic figures, while refreshingly unusual in the casino industry, has probably, unwittingly added some appeal to <strong>MGM Resorts International<\/strong>&#8216;s competing, more-expensive bid for <strong>Exhibition Place<\/strong>, further from the centre &#8230; er, center of the city.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sandy beaches and sunny weather notwithstanding<\/strong>, casino industry leaders are unlikely to shed tears now that voters in the <strong>Bahamas<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/cdcgamingreports.com\/voters-in-bahamas-deciding-gambling-referendum\/?doing_wp_cron=1359470980.3785619735717773437500\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">have nixed legalization<\/a> of the country&#8217;s gray-market &#8220;web shops.&#8221; It&#8217;s a low-end, grind-joint sort of business. The fact that it was projected to generate only $20 million in annual tax revenues &#8212; a twelfth of what the <strong>Seminole Tribe<\/strong> pays the State of <strong>Florida<\/strong> &#8212; tells you how low-yield the Bahamanian market would be. There&#8217;s some money so small it&#8217;s not worth the industry stooping to pick it up off the floor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hold the phone<\/strong>, would-be applicants for <strong>Massachusetts<\/strong>&#8216; southeastern casino license: The <strong>Mashpee Wampanoags<\/strong> say they have found evidence that would prove they have ancestral ties to their proposed casino site in <strong>Taunton<\/strong>. That&#8217;s all well and good but the Mashpee Wamps still have to draw up a compact that the <strong>Bureau of Indian Affairs<\/strong> doesn&#8217;t find usurious and get around the small problem of having been federally recognized too late to be protected under the <em>Carcieri v. Salazar<\/em> ruling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start the Revolution without me<\/strong>. So businessman and philanthropist Dr. <strong>Walter Lomax<\/strong> will be putting as much as $40 million toward south <strong>Philadelphia<\/strong> project (subject to regulatory approval) <strong>Casino Revolution<\/strong>. Big whoop. If there&#8217;s a non-starter among the six casinos being pitched for urban Philly, this is it. <strong>Lomax Cos<\/strong>. &#8220;has its hands in a variety of industries,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phillyburbs.com\/news\/local\/money\/bucks-businessman-to-invest-in-proposed-south-philly-casino\/article_91ec1c9f-6164-54d8-b977-8fe7aee005da.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">none of which is gaming<\/a>. And if you&#8217;re looking for casino expertise behind the fa\u00e7ade that is <strong>PHL Local Gaming<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/PHL-Local-Gaming-LLC\/197986080344806\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">you&#8217;ll find a bunch of tomato growers instead<\/a>. <strong>Steve Wynn<\/strong> or the <strong>Procacci Brothers<\/strong>?
