So it&#8217;s quite an experience to have my technique analyzed by no less a personage than <strong>Lily Tomlin<\/strong>, who&#8217;s doing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mgmgrand.com\/entertainment\/hollywood-theater.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">a nine-show run<\/a> at <strong>MGM Grand<\/strong> next month:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>I loved<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0604429\" target=\"_blank\">Homicide<\/a> <em>and in the old days \u2026 you know what you make me think of? At the telephone company, if you\u2019re a bill collector or something, they tell people, \u2018You don\u2019t say too much.\u2019 You just respond every now and then. The person\u2019ll keep talking til they hang themselves.\u2019<\/em> [laughs] <em>Is that your technique? You say, \u2018Hmm. Ah. When?\u2019 And you just keep talking. The people feel like, \u2018Oh, I have to keep talking. It\u2019s my responsibility. Or \u2018I must not be saying anything that\u2019s good,\u2019 so they just keep talking and eventually they probably just keep talking themselves into a big hole.\u2019<\/em> [chuckles]&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Lily Tomlin interview will appear in the Nov. 5 issue of <em>Las Vegas CityLife<\/em>.
