\"\"Revel Resort<\/strong>‘s somewhat disingenuous “You Can’t Lose” promotion was bound to attract a lawsuit and so it has. A pair of players are suing and, though the odds seem against them, it’s worth recalling that Revel’s disclaimer language tap-danced around the edges of the law. If nothing else, we can look forward to a trial in which the point size of type is a major evidentiary issue, as Revel took fine print to new levels of miniaturization.<\/p>\n

Resorts Atlantic City<\/strong> must have heard you. In a recent article, execs take pains to point out surviving vestiges of Chalfonte-Haddon Hall<\/strong>. They also pointed out — with pride, you might say — Pro Bar<\/strong>, the first gay nightclub in Atlantic City<\/strong>. However, writer Frank Quattrone<\/strong>‘s decidedly gushy tone<\/a> isn’t echoed in recent Resorts financials. It’s not doing badly but is<\/em> getting over a slump that followed the death of Dennis Gomes<\/strong>, when Resorts suddenly seemed to lose track. Las Vegans would be amused to think that 968 hotel rooms were considered a large number but Resorts does come off sounding like a fun place to stay.<\/p>\n

Hard Rock International<\/strong> may not have the best brand in gaming — though it’s well up there — but it certainly has the most distinctive. You know what you’re getting, and in a good way. Hard Rock execs are pouring on the charm<\/a> in West Springfield<\/strong>, whose voters are going to have to decide whether they want a casino or not. The design looks like a poor man’s Beau Rivage<\/strong>, although that’s hardly the worst thing you could about a place. But you’d think — compared to the enthusiasm in Springfield<\/strong> proper — that the suburb could must more enthusiasm. As it stands, Hard Rock will eke out a narrow victory at the ballot box<\/a>. Strangely, many of the people surveyed who think HRH will<\/em> benefit the community won’t<\/em> support it on Sept. 10. That’s bizarre.<\/p>\n

In Ohio<\/strong>, Hard Rock is proceeding so smoothly with its racino that it could open ahead of schedule<\/a>. CEO Jim Allen<\/strong> gets a bit carried away and says patrons “will travel thousands and thousands of miles” … to a racetrack with VLTs? Easy there, Jim. Hard Rock Northfield Park Rocksino<\/strong> sounds like something out of the Flintstones, but it’s put enough of a fright into Rock Gaming Caesars<\/strong>‘ two Cleveland<\/strong>-area for $6.2 million in free-play offers to be spread about last month alone.
