Having served its purpose in getting the (rather soporific) Mob Attraction<\/strong> off the ground — including forgiving some lease payments — the Tropicana Las Vegas<\/strong> finds itself kicked to the curb<\/a>. The Attraction<\/a> will move to a new site (reputedly a Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> property). “Awesome technology enhancements” \"mob-attraction\"<\/a>are promised … but wasn’t the technology already<\/em> supposed to be awesome? In any event, the Attraction has become modestly profitable, which seems to have gone to ownership’s head. John Katsilometes<\/strong> reports that the Attraction will “expand the brand worldwide.” “We are currently evaluating domestic and international opportunities with new locations to be announced in the coming months<\/em>,” says consultant Tom Zaller<\/strong>. I’m not holding my breath.<\/p>\n

Eli Roth’s Goretorium<\/strong>, the evisceration-themed tourist attraction won’t even make it to Halloween. It’s closing this week, although it promises to return in pop-up form<\/a> and possibly something more permanent. Given the 4.3\/1 ratio of debt to assets, it’s difficult to see how Goretorium remains a going concern. Whatever happens, creditors will have to eat a lot of debt. Given that Goretorium has rarely posted a profitable month, a quick dissolution may be the less-painful option.<\/p>\n

\"adelson_t200\"<\/a>It’s a new week<\/strong>, which means it’s time for Sheldon Adelson<\/strong> to lose another lawsuit. In this case, his litigation against the National Jewish Democratic Council<\/strong> got tossed from federal court<\/a>. The latter accused Adelson of turning a blind eye (at minimum) to prostitution in his Macao<\/strong> casinos. Not surprisingly, Adelson vows to appeal the decision and keep fighting … although I wonder whether his chances of vindication are good enough to keep bringing this accusation up in people’s minds.<\/p>\n
