Revenue for 3Q13 rose 32% <a href=\"http:\/\/cdcgamingreports.com\/macau-results-propel-las-vegas-sands-earnings-soar-79-percent-ap\/#.UmFzX1DOnw9\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">and net profit shot 79% upwards<\/a>. Next year, shareholders can look forward to a 60 cent bump in their recurring dividend, which becomes $2\/share. Sheldon concentrated on playing <strong>Santa Claus<\/strong> and avoided controversial remarks this quarter, even though Strip revenue gains (3%) were modest and <strong>Sands Bethlehem<\/strong> was flat. By contrast, <strong>Four Seasons Macao<\/strong> leapt 47% and <strong>Venetian Macao<\/strong> was up 21%.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/adelson_t200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1852\" alt=\"adelson_t200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/adelson_t200.jpg\" width=\"171\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/adelson_t200.jpg 171w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/adelson_t200-128x150.jpg 128w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 171px) 100vw, 171px\" \/><\/a>J.P. Morgan<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Joseph Greff<\/strong> was disappointed with the numbers from <strong>Marina Bay Sands<\/strong>, writing that comps and promotions &#8220;have negatively impacted margins.&#8221; Other than that, he was sufficiently impressed to raise his per-share price target for LVS from $75 to $80. Cash flow wasn&#8217;t broken out for every Sands property but at $357 million for Venetian Macao and $113 for Four Seasons, Sheldon is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2013\/10\/18\/macau-stocks-idUSL3N0I81YM20131018\" target=\"_blank\">recovering his investments at a tidy clip<\/a>. Even his red-headed stepchild, Sands Bethlehem did about as well as any <strong>Pennsylvania<\/strong> casino could, pulling in $123 million during the quarter. If not&#8217;s enough for Adelson, what is?<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"450\" height=\"253\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"https:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/al5NbWuNW-8?version=3&amp;hl=en_US\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed width=\"450\" height=\"253\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/al5NbWuNW-8?version=3&amp;hl=en_US\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas<\/strong> has usurped Adelson as Target Number One for the <strong>Culinary Union<\/strong>. Actually, it&#8217;s no longer the Cosmo itself that is the object of the Culinary&#8217;s rage but <!--more-->customers thereof. Culinary picketers have been venting their spleen by calling patrons &#8220;loser&#8221; and &#8220;retard&#8221; &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vegasinc.com\/news\/2013\/oct\/17\/culinary-union-protesters-ramp-insult-campaign-str\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">and those are the nicer things said<\/a>! By diving headfirst into the sewer, the Culinary forfeits not only the moral high ground in its long skirmish with CEO <strong>John Unwin<\/strong> but also the sympathy of any decent person. Normally, I avoid picket lines but I might make an exception and cross the one at the Cosmo. The Culinary defines its action as an exercise of its First Amendment rights but just because you&#8217;ve got the right to yell something doesn&#8217;t mean you should.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Dunkeson.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-11850\" alt=\"Dunkeson\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Dunkeson-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Dunkeson-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Dunkeson-112x150.jpg 112w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Dunkeson.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Station Casinos<\/strong> continues to prove to be an excellent &#8216;campus&#8217; for executives. The latest alumnus to make good is <strong>Mark Dunkeson<\/strong>. He&#8217;s scarcely a household name in the gambling world but spent the last five years overseeing <strong>Green Valley Ranch Resort<\/strong> and <strong>Red Rock Resort<\/strong>. <a href=\"http:\/\/cdcgamingreports.com\/former-station-exec-tapped-as-president-coo-of-rock-gaming-lvrj\/#.UmFuY1DOnw9\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">That&#8217;s proven excellent grooming for his new role<\/a> at <strong>Rock Gaming<\/strong>, the casino outfit of usury mogul <strong>Dan Gilbert<\/strong>. As Rock Gaming&#8217;s COO, Dunkeson&#8217;s portfolio will include two <strong>Ohio<\/strong> casinos, a Buckeye State racino and <strong>Greektown Casino<\/strong> in <strong>Detroit<\/strong>, above.\u00a0(Glorified &#8216;locals&#8217; properties, every one.) At Rock Gaming, his portfolio will involve developing &#8220;strategic partnership.&#8221; Since all the Ohio properties are run by <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong>, Dunkeson won&#8217;t have much chance to dabble in the operational side of the outfit.
