Did he <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lvrj.com\/news\/breaking_news\/Wynn-withdraws-from-Aqueduct-bidding-69173782.html\" target=\"_blank\">balk at the $200 million upfront fee<\/a>? <strong>Penn National Gaming<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crainsnewyork.com\/article\/20091102\/FREE\/911029992\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">basically set the ante<\/a> and now Gov. <strong>David Paterson<\/strong> wants its rivals to match it. Even without Wynn in the running, the Aqueduct steeplechase still features a field of thoroughbreds, including <strong>MGM Mirage<\/strong> and <strong>Harrah&#8217;s Entertainment<\/strong>, plus a couple of up-and-comers.<\/p>\n<p>Among the latter is the <strong>Seminole Tribe<\/strong>. Will Empire State politicos take sides <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nypost.com\/p\/news\/local\/queens\/aqueduct_bid_tribe_in_illegal_casino_MIXv9zYiv3MhnWZAnlCmoI\" target=\"_blank\">in an intra-Florida dispute<\/a> (where, in a related story, parimutuel casino operators find themselves with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/5min\/story\/1314864.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">an unlikely new threat<\/a>: <strong>Miami International Airport<\/strong>)?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Try, try again<\/strong>. Who says the recession hasn&#8217;t been good for <strong>Golden Nugget<\/strong> owner <strong>Tilman Fertitta<\/strong>? A falling market has enabled him to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lvrj.com\/business\/buyout-to-take-casino-parent-private-69057882.html\" target=\"_blank\">knock $6.25\/share off his LBO<\/a> offer for <strong>Landry&#8217;s Restaurants<\/strong>. A tidy $1.2 billion nets him sole control of two casinos and a plethora of restaurants.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1199\" title=\"OB-BB375_Macau__20080221142644\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/OB-BB375_Macau__20080221142644.jpg\" alt=\"OB-BB375_Macau__20080221142644\" width=\"470\" height=\"313\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/OB-BB375_Macau__20080221142644.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/OB-BB375_Macau__20080221142644-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 470px) 100vw, 470px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>If Peking is curbing access<\/strong> by its citizens to <strong>Macao<\/strong>, the effects have yet to be felt. October revenue <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/BT-CO-20091104-706483.html?mod=dist_smartbrief\" target=\"_blank\">jumped 42%<\/a> year\/year and 18% from September. While <strong>Venetian Macao<\/strong> lost market share, that was <a href=\"http:\/\/m.lasvegassun.com\/news\/2009\/nov\/02\/las-vegas-sands-outlines-plans-macau\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">more than offset by growth<\/a> at <strong>Sands Macao<\/strong> (<em>above<\/em>, up 13%) and especially at newbie <strong>Four Seasons Macao &amp; Plaza Casino<\/strong> (38%), driving a huge revenue increase.
