Tables were responsible for $21 million of last month&#8217;s gross. <strong>Maryland Live!<\/strong> alone represented 80% of the total revenue, grossing $53 million. The other dramatic gain was at <strong>Hollywood Casino Perryville<\/strong>, up 22% for a $7 million tally.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Rivers-Casino-DP.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-12200\" alt=\"Rivers Casino DP\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Rivers-Casino-DP.jpg\" width=\"246\" height=\"205\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Rivers-Casino-DP.jpg 246w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Rivers-Casino-DP-150x125.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 246px) 100vw, 246px\" \/><\/a>It was a not-dissimilar scenario in <strong>Illinois<\/strong>, where <strong>Rivers Casino<\/strong> alone <a href=\"http:\/\/pull.db-gmresearch.com\/cgi-bin\/pull\/DocPull\/791-8ACD\/97404839\/0900b8c08796c25c.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">represents 27% of the state&#8217;s $121 million gross<\/a>. Players may be visiting less (-5%) and spending more (+2%) but they seem to be doing it mostly at Rivers, up 11% last month. Former powerhouse <em>Grand Victoria Elgin<\/em> suffered a 10% drop and slid behind <em>Harrah&#8217;s Joliet<\/em> ($16 million, -3%) to third place in the state. <strong>Penn National Gaming<\/strong> also had a not-so-good month, with an 11% decline aboard <em>Empress Joliet<\/em> and a 13% dip at redundant <em>Alton Belle<\/em>. Independent <em>Casino Queen<\/em> was down but 2% which is tantamount to cause for celebration in the Land of Lincoln.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Needless to say<\/strong>, November was yet another powerhouse month for <!--more--><strong>Macao<\/strong>, where gross gambling revenues ascended 21%. To give you the potted version, <strong>Las Vegas Sands<\/strong> lagged both <strong>Stanley Ho<\/strong> and <strong>Galaxy Entertainment<\/strong> for VIP revenue share, 17% to 22% and 21%, respectively. However, the tables were turned (so to speak) in mass-market play, of which Sands had a 30% share, compared to 25% for <strong>Sociedade de Jogos de Macau<\/strong> and 15.5% for Galaxy. <strong>Melco Crown Entertainment<\/strong>, <strong>Wynn Resorts<\/strong> and <strong>MGM Resorts International<\/strong> had to content themselves with much smaller slices of the pie &#8230; but it&#8217;s one helluva big pie.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Sandoval.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6381\" alt=\"Sandoval\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Sandoval.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Sandoval.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Sandoval-136x150.jpg 136w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>Manna in the desert<\/strong>. During a recent trade mission to <strong>Israel<\/strong>, Gov. <strong>Brian Sandoval<\/strong> (R, <em>right<\/em>) suggested bringing <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong>-style casino gambling to the <strong>Negev Desert<\/strong>. It sounds wacky at first <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reviewjournal.com\/business\/official-israel-interested-las-vegas-style-casino-negev-desert\" target=\"_blank\">but Nevada and Israel have many business ties<\/a>, and our casino industry knows how to flourish in the wasteland. Surprisingly, <strong>Sheldon Adelson<\/strong> is sitting this one out.<\/p>\n<p>Kudos to <strong>Parx Casino<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.philly.com\/philly\/business\/homepage\/20131206_Parx_Casino_fights_for_lower_tax_bill_in_Bensalem.html\" target=\"_blank\">which has contributed more to charity<\/a> than all its <strong>Pennsylvania<\/strong> brethren put together.
