Certainly, its hoity-toity original owners would have been dismayed beyond measure by the recent addition of a poker room. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.reviewjournal.com\/business\/rampart-casino-marking-15th-anniversary-emphasis-pure-gambling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gasp!<\/a>) Amazingly, two restaurants that opened with the casino &#8212; Spiedini and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/referenceguide-nightspotdetail.cfm?NightspotID=43&amp;type=Pub\/Microbrewery&amp;itemname=JC%20Wooloughan\">\u00a0J.C. Wooloughan Irish Pub<\/a> are still in operation and will be exempt from property revisions that are on the drawing boards.<\/p>\n<p>Back when $275 million was still a lot of money to spend on a locals casino, Swiss Casinos wafted into <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong> on a cloud of <!--more-->pretension. They didn&#8217;t understand the locals market and didn&#8217;t want to, sources say. Their notion was a golf-oriented, high-end resort that was sort of Vegas-y, but not very. History&#8217;s verdict was negative and swift. The property has done quite a bit better since going through bankruptcy and switching to a locals-first focus. As <strong>Station Casinos<\/strong> later learned with <strong>Red Rock Resort<\/strong>, it&#8217;s hard to put a tourist property out in the boonies.<\/p>\n<div><strong>Here&#8217;s<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/siouxcityjournal.com\/news\/local\/a1\/irgc-timetable-for-argosy-license-still-pending\/article_d6009c0f-a860-5c9f-8235-d09af0d06565.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the best explanation to date<\/a> of why <strong>Penn National Gaming<\/strong> is being evicted from <strong>Sioux City<\/strong> and why. It cannot have been easy to summarize.<\/div>\n<p><strong>Global Gaming Expo<\/strong> is stealing some of its own thunder, holding a mini-G2E in Tokyo next May, <a href=\"http:\/\/macaubusinessdaily.com\/Gaming\/Casino-conferences-set-blossom-May\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">shortly before its Macao conference<\/a>. The move is attempt to prevent rival Clarion Events (which is holding a mid-May convention) from becoming too firmly entrenched. This will be an unusual test of the Asian casino market: Can it support three trade shows in one month?
