(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.reviewjournal.com\/business\/wynn-gets-ok-online-gambling-new-jersey-puts-efforts-hold\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Not that he has allowed this to stop his pursuit<\/a> of a <strong>New Jersey<\/strong> license.) In an interview with <strong>Jon Ralston<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ralstonreports.com\/blog\/my-column-wynn-joins-adelson-crusade-against-web-gaming#.UvAGDvl8IWL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he raised many of the same concerns<\/a> about underage access to Internet casinos. He&#8217;s not quite alarmist, thinking <strong>Washington<\/strong> gridlock will solve some of the problem: &#8220;<em>They can\u2019t agree on anything, especially something this esoteric<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Wynn&#8217;s central concern isn&#8217;t that Little Johnny will spend the family dry but that federal legitimacy could come with heavy taxation. He also thinks it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Wynns.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-8510\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Wynns-300x177.jpg\" alt=\"Wynns\" width=\"300\" height=\"177\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Wynns-300x177.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Wynns-150x88.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Wynns.jpg 442w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>could be <a href=\"http:\/\/cdcgamingreports.com\/nys-lotto-continues-long-decline-as-games-grow-ap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">co-opted by state lotteries<\/a> (not a problem for Wynn in <strong>Nevada<\/strong>). Wynn also admits to feeling out of his element in cyberspace. \u201c<em>I know how to do that [in bricks and mortar]. But I don\u2019t know how to do that on a 17-inch screen &#8230;\u00a0The big problem I see is I don\u2019t see the government letting us keep the money<\/em>.&#8221; Hmmmm, so because you can&#8217;t do it, others shouldn&#8217;t have the opportunity? Still, if Wynn and Adelson are so het up about the &#8220;narcotic&#8221; effect of having access to gambling, perhaps <!--more-->they should choose a different line of work. Not to worry, though: In <strong>New Jersey<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/cdcgamingreports.com\/poll-more-in-nj-want-pot-than-online-gambling-ap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">they&#8217;d rather smoke weed than gamble<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/wynn-02_t178.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5401\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/wynn-02_t178.jpg\" alt=\"wynn 02_t178\" width=\"178\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/wynn-02_t178.jpg 178w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/wynn-02_t178-120x150.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 178px) 100vw, 178px\" \/><\/a>In the course<\/strong> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/boston\/blog\/mass_roundup\/2014\/02\/steve-wynn-on-the-boston-casino-market.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">bragging on his casino-development skills<\/a> and promising that <strong>Wynn Boston<\/strong> would the best casino on the East Coast, Wynn said something odd. &#8220;Wynn remarked that he &#8220;<em>would be able to capitalize on the thousands of Asian and Middle Eastern students who come to school in the Boston area, and whose parents are regular visitors as a result<\/em>.&#8221; So it&#8217;s OK to prey on college kids at a terrestial casino but not in cyberspace? Yup, totally honest, Steve.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaking of<\/strong> Wynn&#8217;s newfangled bromance with Adelson, recent numbers from the <strong>European Casino Association<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/cdcgamingreports.com\/commentaries\/a-recovery-for-european-casinos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">write the epitaph<\/a> for <strong>EuroVegas<\/strong>, his $22 billion pipe dream. In 2012, ECA members combined had gambling revenues of $8.9 billion. In 2011, <strong>Hungary<\/strong>&#8216;s entire casino industry grossed just $29 million. No wonder that Adelson&#8217;s Iberian quest smacked of folly.<\/p>\n<p>* Surprisingly, <a href=\"http:\/\/cdcgamingreports.com\/conn-lawmaker-calls-for-gambling-parlor-crackdown-ap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">gray-market video-gambling parlors operate out in the open<\/a> in over 12 states. One of them is <strong>Connecticut<\/strong>, where a smackdown is being urged by state Sen. <strong>Dante Bartolomeo<\/strong>. These &#8220;Internet sweepstakes&#8221; operations have essential fallen through cracks in existing law. It&#8217;s an unregulated industry and its extermination will be smiled upon by the vast majority of the gambling industry.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board<\/strong> hearings over <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.philly.com\/2014-02-02\/news\/46927529_1_hollywood-casino-philadelphia-fajt-second-casino-license\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the state&#8217;s final license ended in a morass of uncertainty<\/a>. However, it&#8217;s clear that A) cannibalization is a major worry in <strong>Philadelphia<\/strong>, B) commissioners are spooked by the fate of <strong>Revel Resort<\/strong> and C) you&#8217;d better have a lot of parking spaces.<\/p>\n<p>*<strong> As states<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/cdcgamingreports.com\/charles-town-casino-copes-with-maryland-competition-ap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">fight over a finite gambling market<\/a>, we may be seeing the beginning of the end of casinos as an economic Dr. FixIt. In <strong>Delaware<\/strong>, the after-tax properties at <strong>Dover Downs<\/strong> were <a href=\"http:\/\/cdcgamingreports.com\/earnings-report-shows-pressures-for-del-casinos-ap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">a famished $13,000<\/a>.
