It will replace $1 billion in near-term indebtedness with $1.75 billion in longer-term notes. Bond analysts have been predicting this move for a long time, even as Caesars demurred. Also,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/story\/12698712\/1\/why-caesars-entertainment-czr-stock-is-higher-this-morning.html?puc=yahoo&amp;cm_ven=YAHOO\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\"> the company will liquidate 5%<\/a> of its equity to institutional investors to help make ends meet. When <strong>Texas Pacific Group<\/strong> and <strong>Apollo Management<\/strong> are done with Caesars, it&#8217;s going to be worth a lot less than what they paid for it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wall Street<\/strong> was reassured by the news, with Caesars 8% up in after-hours trading. Now CEO <strong>Gary Loveman<\/strong> must find a way to push 2016-17 maturities<!--more--> into the distance or, as he puts it,\u00a0\u201clay the foundation for both significant de-leveraging and value creation at Caesars Entertainment.\u201d He&#8217;s also referring to the closure of the sale by Caesars (to itself) of <strong>The Cromwell<\/strong>, <strong>Bally&#8217;s Las Vegas<\/strong> and <strong>The Quad<\/strong> to <strong>Caesars Growth Partners<\/strong>, sequestering those goodies in the cupboard, as it were.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Turn over a rock<\/strong>, seems like, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reviewjournal.com\/business\/casinos-gaming\/gaming-board-bans-casino-licensees-medical-marijuana-trade\" target=\"_blank\">you&#8217;ll find a gaming executive<\/a> with ties to the medicinal-marijuana industry. Among those who are going to have to choose between gambling and grow houses are two of the <strong>Herbst Brothers<\/strong>, owners of slot route <strong>JETT Gaming<\/strong>. Another name on the list belongs to <strong>Armen Yemenidjian<\/strong>, <strong>Tropicana Las Vegas<\/strong> vice president of casino marketing and operations, and son of Alex. Could nepotism be at the root of the Trop&#8217;s frequent troubles, particularly when it comes to hanging onto entertainment and to business partners?<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"450\" height=\"253\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/EKKmSqkCd5Y?version=3&amp;hl=en_US\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/EKKmSqkCd5Y?version=3&amp;hl=en_US\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p><strong>Massachusetts<\/strong> Gov. <strong>Deval Patrick<\/strong>&#8216;s stance on casinos<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/business\/2014\/05\/06\/deval-patrick-all-casinos\/Epe3WZ8BZBwhBwXJ4nsCRP\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\"> is a study in ambivalence<\/a>. However, his inclination to stay out of the licensing process &#8212; almost without exception &#8212; has been for the best. Meanwhile, <strong>Mohegan Sun<\/strong> has been conducting <a href=\"http:\/\/cdcgamingreports.com\/mohegan-sun-meeting-wednesday-with-boston-mayor\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">the proverbial &#8220;productive conversations&#8221;<\/a> with <strong>Boston<\/strong> Mayor <strong>Martin J. Walsh <\/strong>over the fate of<strong> Suffolk Downs<\/strong>.\u00a0The trick is to craft a surrounding-community agreement with Walsh that will induce him to call off the dogs and end his demands for a re-vote in <strong>East Boston<\/strong>.
