For instance, the ever-burgeoning and remunerative nightclub business. When <strong>SLS Las Vegas<\/strong> opens Life, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/articles\/2014-05-15\/las-vegass-lucrative-nightclubs-pump-up-the-spectacle\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">bottle service will be delivered by acrobat<\/a>. Seriously.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/thebank-pic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-13617\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/thebank-pic.jpg\" alt=\"thebank-pic\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/thebank-pic.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/thebank-pic-150x99.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>You don&#8217;t have to patronize these establishments, with their pile-driving &#8220;music&#8221; and single-name disc jockeys. You certainly don&#8217;t have to like the douchebag clientele they lure. But you have to understand and accept them as part of Las Vegas&#8217; evolution. As <strong>Sam Nazarian<\/strong> puts it, clubgoers no longer want to watch the show, they want to <em>be<\/em> the show. (Much the same, if not more, could be said of the pool-party culture.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/tryst-pic.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-13618\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/tryst-pic.gif\" alt=\"tryst-pic\" width=\"300\" height=\"194\" \/><\/a>Besides, all the revenue is guaranteed upfront. When <strong>Steve Wynn<\/strong> says,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u201cIt\u2019s all cash and credit cards\u2014no markers,\u201d you can just hear the satisfaction in his voice. Wynn, who once vowed never to have a nightclub in his casinos, now outdoes everyone in the Bells &amp; Whistles Dept. Those rooftop fireworks for heavy spenders coming to <strong>The Cromwell<\/strong>&#8216;s pool parties are the sound of the competition trying to keep pace.\u00a0\u201cWe get girls. Guys chase them and spend money,\u201d says Wynn&#8217;s nightclub supremo, <strong>Jesse Waits<\/strong>.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/hyde-pic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-13619\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/hyde-pic.jpg\" alt=\"hyde-pic\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/hyde-pic.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/hyde-pic-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>It&#8217;s all of a piece with Vegas&#8217; younger average visitor, his hefty bankroll and his preference for things like mobile games over slot machines. And Las Vegas doesn&#8217;t want to get caught on the wrong side of a generation gap. The market gambled they&#8217;d pay more for dinner and a show (or a club) and found it a very winning bet. If gambling is 30%-37% of revenue, can we surprised? There are so many avenues of temptation for the tourist dollar. It&#8217;s hard to play blackjack when you&#8217;re getting a spa treatment &#8212; though I&#8217;m sure someone will figure out how to combine the two.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Details are beginning to emerg<\/strong>e in the ouster of <strong>Bally Technologies<\/strong> CEO\u00a0<strong>Ramesh Srinivasan<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/vegasinc.com\/news\/2014\/may\/15\/bally-technologies-bringing-back-previous-ceo\/\" target=\"_blank\">who had his head handed to him on a platter by the man who&#8217;d both preceded and replaced him<\/a>, <strong>Richard\u00a0Haddrill <\/strong>(<em>left<\/em>). Srinivasan was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Haddrill.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8696\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Haddrill-239x300.jpg\" alt=\"Haddrill\" width=\"239\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Haddrill-239x300.jpg 239w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Haddrill-119x150.jpg 119w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Haddrill.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 239px) 100vw, 239px\" \/><\/a>offered a different, lower-echelon position in the company but understandably refused that teeth-gritting demotion. His downfall is being attributed to &#8220;a strategic review,&#8221; prompted by drops in profitability and stock price, the latter having plummeted since the start of 2014.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I wouldn\u2019t say it was anything Ramesh did, but it was more of a move that addresses the current competitive nature in the slot machine industry,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reviewjournal.com\/business\/casinos-gaming\/bally-technologies-ousts-ceo-taps-former-ceo-post\" target=\"_blank\">opined<\/a> <strong>Janney Capital Markets<\/strong> analyst <strong>Brian McGill<\/strong>. Tacitly disrespected in the turnover was also former Bally exec <strong>Gavin Isaacs<\/strong>, passed over for CEO yet again, as had happened when the company absorbed <strong>SHFL Entertainment<\/strong>. Haddrill&#8217;s previous, eight-year tenure is associated with a period of great profitability for investors, so they&#8217;ve good cause to be happy with the turnover.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Insulting.&#8221;<\/strong> That&#8217;s a good word for the would-be buyers of <strong>Newport Grand<\/strong> who want to add table games.
