Rather than anger his Communist overlords, Adelson apologized for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ggrasia.com\/sands-china-regrets-demo-outside-venetian-macao\/\" target=\"_blank\">a labor march that just so happened to be held<\/a> outside <strong>Venetian Macao<\/strong>. The protest was organized to call for 10% pay raises and more promotions of dealers to supervisors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Venetian-Macao-foyer.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8185\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Venetian-Macao-foyer.jpg\" alt=\"Venetian Macao foyer\" width=\"190\" height=\"285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Venetian-Macao-foyer.jpg 190w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Venetian-Macao-foyer-100x150.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 190px) 100vw, 190px\" \/><\/a>\u201cSome people at Sands China are working as dealer supervisors but only getting dealer salaries. Our issue is only with Sands,&#8221; said organizer <strong>Kelvin Leong<\/strong>. The protest group, <strong>Forefront of the Macao Gaming<\/strong>, appears to have marshaled considerably more than the 200 protesters estimated by police (such wild discrepancies in reporting are nothing new). However, its demands rang a bit hollow since it didn&#8217;t have <strong>Sands China<\/strong> membership numbers and nobody knew if Adelson&#8217;s employees were actually participating in the protest or signed a 5,000-signatory petition that was delivered to Sands management.<\/p>\n<p>Since employers in Macao\u00a0can be sanctioned by their bosses without having any legal recourse, Sands workers would do well to <!--more-->lie low and let other casino workers duke it out on their behalf. As for Sands, it said 70% of its table-game employees had received salary increases or promotions. Said Leong, &#8220;the management thinks it knows what Sands\u2019 workers want, but actually we think what the workers are saying doesn\u2019t get to the big bosses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sands replied, \u201c[we\u00a0have]\u00a0in place various communication channels to encourage direct feedback from our team members, including via the company intranet, opinion boxes, team member concierge, direct communication with human resources and regular communication sessions.&#8221; And Sheldon knows how to strum a golden harp when he needs to serenade\u00a0City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Wynn Resorts<\/strong> is running into <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2014-07-23\/wynn-resorts-says-it-s-cooperating-with-macau-s-anti-graft-body.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">some Macao-related troubles of its own<\/a>. Namely, the <strong>Commission Against Corruption<\/strong> wants to know why it cost Wynn $50 million to obtain\u00a0the land for <strong>Wynn Palace<\/strong>. &#8220;<span style=\"color: #2d2b2c;\">Wynn Resorts had to buy the rights from certain mainlanders, though the <strong>Land Public Works and Transport Burea<\/strong>u said it wasn\u2019t aware of their involvement, according to the <em>Macau Business<\/em> report.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>* Halfway around the globe, in <strong>Boston<\/strong>, <strong>Steve Wynn<\/strong> has some new bivalve friends. <a href=\"http:\/\/bostonherald.com\/business\/business_markets\/2014\/07\/wynn_casino_is_my_oyster\" target=\"_blank\">He&#8217;s going to put 250,000 oysters to work<\/a>, cleaning the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Wynn-tux.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7757\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Wynn-tux.jpg\" alt=\"Wynn tux\" width=\"113\" height=\"113\" \/><\/a>waters of the <strong>Mystic River<\/strong>. Wynn says he&#8217;ll be the first private sector developer to team with an oyster restorer and his\u00a0<span style=\"color: #262626;\">\u201ccommitment goes above and beyond what is required by law and will convert a contaminated former chemical plant site into a public waterfront gem that everyone can enjoy,\u201d according to associate\u00a0<strong>Robert DeSalvio<\/strong>.\u00a0\u201cThe <strong>Everett<\/strong> waterfront has been locked out of public use for more than a century. We\u2019re going to open it up in grand fashion and create a spectacular esplanade&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Wynn will underwrite the <strong>Massachusetts Oyster Project<\/strong>. The latter will build up beds of oyster shells and then populate them with live oysters, who will &#8212; in the aggregate &#8212; filter 7.5 million gallons of water a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Wynn-Everett.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-10702\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Wynn-Everett-300x131.jpg\" alt=\"Wynn Everett\" width=\"300\" height=\"131\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Wynn-Everett-300x131.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Wynn-Everett-150x65.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Wynn-Everett.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>day. Total cost of the project, including building a park and mall, plus water taxi service, has been pegged at $30 million, leaving Wynn $1.57 billion for everything else. The choice of oysters as decontaminants is historically symmetrical: Before <strong>Monsanto Chemicals<\/strong> crapped up Wynn&#8217;s site with pollutants, it was the home of the <strong>W.A.
