A British judge has ruled that, whether he knew it or not, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2014-10-08\/poker-pro-ivey-did-cheat-to-win-12-4-million-u-k-judge-rules.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">Ivey was cheating<\/a> when he won $12 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Cards.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-11431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Cards.jpg\" alt=\"Cards\" width=\"261\" height=\"261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Cards.jpg 261w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Cards-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 261px) 100vw, 261px\" \/><\/a>million at <strong>Crockfords<\/strong>, a <strong>Genting Group<\/strong> casino in London.\u00a0\u201cHe gave himself an advantage which the game precludes,\u201d ruled Judge <strong>John Mitting<\/strong>. Whoops.<\/p>\n<p>Solons also debated whether or not to allow riverboat casinos onto dry land. <strong>Pinnacle Entertainment<\/strong> Vice President <strong>Troy Stremming<\/strong> argued that it should done one a one-for-one basis, with no increase in the actual gambling space, since not all companies could afford to make the move. <strong>Majestic Star<\/strong> CEO\u00a0<strong>Pete Liguori<\/strong> knew how to play on lawmakers&#8217; harp strings, though, saying of a move ashore, saying &#8220;it\u2019s likely to increase the real estate tax rolls.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>* Aspirants for Japanese casinos may want to start revising their investment commitments downward if a casino bill in the <strong>Diet<\/strong> advances in its current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Diet_of_Japan-e1401350602863.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-14748\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Diet_of_Japan-e1401350602863-300x189.jpg\" alt=\"Diet_of_Japan-e1401350602863\" width=\"300\" height=\"189\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Diet_of_Japan-e1401350602863-300x189.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Diet_of_Japan-e1401350602863-150x94.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Diet_of_Japan-e1401350602863.jpg 625w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>form. Although <strong>Japan<\/strong> is assumed to be a shoo-in to be the second-biggest gambling market in the world, the math would change dramatically if casinos were only open to tourists. A separate law would have to be enacted for the citizens of Japan to be allowed gamble on their own soil. As an aide to Prime Minister <strong>Shinzo Abe<\/strong> said, \u201cWith only foreigners gambling, [casinos] will not be profitable. The momentum for promoting integrated resorts may lose steam.\u201d You tell &#8217;em!<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Station Casinos<\/strong> and (irony alert) labor unions could be facing mutual defeat on Election Day in <strong>California<\/strong>. Opponents of their <strong>North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians<\/strong> off-reservation casino <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/local\/political\/la-me-ln-opponents-hold-financial-edge-battle-over-tribal-casino-ballot-initiative-20141007-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">have outspent them 20-to-1<\/a> as the race comes down to the wire. Opposition includes the usual do-gooders but also<strong> Wall Street<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Brigade Capital Management<\/strong> (financier of\u00a0<strong>Chukchansi Gold Resort &amp; Casino<\/strong>) and nearby <strong>Table Mountain Rancheria<\/strong>. For Station, a loss would be a rare setback after a series of successes in Indian Country.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Warner Gaming<\/strong> got the preliminary go-ahead to exorcise the evil spirit of <strong>Columbia Sussex<\/strong> from <strong>Lake Tahoe<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Horizon<\/strong> casino and append the <strong>Hard Rock<\/strong> imprimatur. &#8220;We want everyone to forget the name Horizon,&#8221; <strong>William Warner<\/strong> told the <strong>Nevada Gaming Control Board<\/strong>. In Hard Rock tradition, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reviewjournal.com\/business\/casinos-gaming\/control-board-backs-warner-gaming-takeover-horizon-lake-tahoe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">heavy emphasis will be placed on amenities<\/a>, part of a $60 million redo of the property, prompting NGCB Chairman <strong>A.G.
