After an unhappy interregnum as The Quad<\/strong>, the former Imperial Palace<\/strong> officially becomes The Linq<\/strong> today. (What was<\/em> up with that Quad nonsense anyway?) It might as well be called “The Millennial,” given the number of amenities targeted to that demographic. It’s not just the eco-friendly products<\/a> dispensed in waste-not fashion in the bathrooms to help with your ablutions. There are also USB outlets in the hotel-room lamps, showing that Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> has irrevocably entered the 21st century and every room is a WiFi hot spot (at the price of a $25 resort fee). Were it not for the $25 levy, Linq rooms would be the bargain of the Strip, going for as little as $65 a night.<\/p>\n

Goodies at the 3535<\/strong> bar range from wine on tap to a a plug-in unit for every seat that’s amenable to standard current and USB ports. Caesars is all over this connectivity thing like white on rice. Even complimentary charging cords are available. Hail Caesars!<\/p>\n

* GTECH<\/strong>‘s takeover of International Game Technology<\/strong> got that much closer as 97% of GTECH shareholders voted to approve it. (What did the other 3% not like?) The combined companies will operate under the holding corporation Georgia Worldwide<\/strong>. WTF? It sounds like a company that makes bathroom tissue.<\/p>\n

* Instead of waiting for a statewide solution to tribal online gambling, the\u00a0Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel<\/strong> is forcing the issue with Internet<\/strong> bingo. Through a “proxy” system, the play is actually conducted on Santa Ysabel land, not by the user on his computer. Coming “within the next week or two”: online poker<\/a>. That might get somebody’s hackles up.<\/p>\n
