A $40 million decline in slot winnings\u00a0pushed casinos to sub-2013 levels. The\u00a0proliferation of casino product <a href=\"http:\/\/triblive.com\/news\/adminpage\/7572460-74\/billion-revenue-pennsylvania#axzz3PIovnKMH\" class=\"broken_link\">did not help<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cWhen I came here six years ago, there were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Sands-Bethworks.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6366\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Sands-Bethworks-300x171.jpg\" alt=\"Sands Bethworks\" width=\"300\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Sands-Bethworks-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Sands-Bethworks-150x85.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Sands-Bethworks.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>four casinos within 175 miles of the Meadows. Now there are 12. There are more casinos and not much growth in population,\u201d lamented <strong>Meadows Racetrack &amp; Casino<\/strong> Vice President <strong>Sean Sullivan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the casinos and racinos finished the year strong, especially <strong>Sands Bethlehem<\/strong>. There, a $21 million gross pushed the <strong>Las Vegas Sands<\/strong> casino to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcall.com\/business\/mc-sands-record-table-games-revenue-20150115-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">its best year ever<\/a>. (And to think <!--more--><strong>Sheldon Adelson<\/strong> almost sold the place.) The annual gross for Sands was $470 million, with $180 million of that coming from table games. The place was packed on Dec. 26, with a game going at every table and few slot machines open. Jested one player,\u00a0&#8220;Why are we here? Because we&#8217;re stupid.\u00a0It&#8217;s almost sacrilegious.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Edward-Tracy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-14786\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Edward-Tracy-300x189.jpg\" alt=\"Edward-Tracy\" width=\"300\" height=\"189\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Edward-Tracy-300x189.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Edward-Tracy-150x94.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Edward-Tracy.jpg 625w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Running Sands&#8217; Far Eastern operations can&#8217;t be an easy job and, after five\u00a0years, <strong>Edward Tracy<\/strong> is calling it a day. Once the <strong>Parisian<\/strong> is open, he will step down as CEO of <strong>Sands China<\/strong>. The company was quick to assure investors there were no hard feelings involved and, indeed, it will retain Tracy as a consultant. Tracy&#8217;s exit seems to have prompted by factors closer to home. He said he&#8217;d be returning to the U.S. to tend to his health and to family matters. Although he&#8217;s been one of the innumerable executive to pass through the revolving door of <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong>&#8216;s casino fiefdom, he&#8217;ll be best remembered for his work in <strong>Macao<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>* Speaking of <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong>, it wouldn&#8217;t be a week if he didn&#8217;t manage to make an ass of himself. This time he was claiming credit for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hitfix.com\/news\/all-of-donald-trumps-celebrity-apprentice-delusion-at-tca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">making the celebs on his comedy show famous<\/a>. He also offered <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realityblurred.com\/realitytv\/2015\/01\/trump-apprentice-ratings-celebrity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">some bogus claims for his program&#8217;s ratings<\/a>. Well, it wouldn&#8217;t be a Donald Trump event if there weren&#8217;t an extra-large helping of B.S. involved.<\/p>\n<p>* &#8220;It&#8217;s the non-casino things that people get on airplanes and put up with body searches and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Steve_Wynn_co_Wynn_t420.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-1089\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Steve_Wynn_co_Wynn_t420-193x300.jpg\" alt=\"Steve_Wynn_co_Wynn_t420\" width=\"146\" height=\"227\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Steve_Wynn_co_Wynn_t420-193x300.jpg 193w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Steve_Wynn_co_Wynn_t420.jpg 420w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 146px) 100vw, 146px\" \/><\/a>stuff like that for,&#8221; said <strong>Steve Wynn<\/strong>, outlining the grand-hotel appeal of his <strong>Everett<\/strong> project <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/markets\/2015\/01\/15\/wynn-touts-16b-everett-casino-in-first-public-appearance-in-state-since-winning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">as he took a victory lap<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0<strong>Boston Convention &amp;\u00a0Exhibition Center<\/strong>. He also hoped that litigation by <strong>Boston<\/strong> Mayor <strong>Martin &#8220;McCheese&#8221; Walsh<\/strong> wouldn&#8217;t gum up the works of the construction process.\u00a0&#8220;Hopefully the mayor doesn&#8217;t slow us down. It&#8217;s a $100 million a month benefit to everybody the day we open,&#8221; Wynn said. Unfortunately, El Steve\u00a0was not in an expansive mood and took no questions from reporters.<\/p>\n<p>* The <strong>Olympics<\/strong> have been held sacrosanct from <strong>Nevada<\/strong> sports wagering, largely because they are a (nominally) amateur event. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sltrib.com\/home\/2063004-155\/sports-books-lobby-for-bets-on\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">But that may soon change<\/a>. Hoping to get a cut of the big money that is laid offshore on the Olympiad, sports books are lobbying the <strong>Nevada Gaming Control Board<\/strong> for a rule change. They also want Nevada law rewritten to allow for betting on the <strong>Academy Awards<\/strong>, among other competitions. <strong>Michael Gaughan<\/strong> is taking point on this proposed alteration, although <strong>Cantor Gaming<\/strong> is not far behind. They&#8217;re already getting a positive signed from NGCB Chairman <strong>A.G.
