Why? Because it means that the Hoosier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/belterra.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-8749\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/belterra-300x194.jpg\" alt=\"belterra\" width=\"300\" height=\"194\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/belterra-300x194.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/belterra-150x97.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/belterra.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>State is absorbing the impact of competition from <strong>Ohio<\/strong>. Operators can also, thanks to Gov. <strong>Mike Pence<\/strong>&#8216;s clemency, look forward to building new facilities, the sex appeal of which could bring even more business back over the state line from the Buckeye State.<\/p>\n<p>Admittedly, only a couple of properties in the southern tier showed gains, like <strong>Hoosier Park<\/strong>&#8216;s +2%. The big winner last month was <!--more--><strong>Pinnacle Entertainment<\/strong>, outperforming in two markets. <strong>Belterra<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>above<\/em>) was up 10% and, up north, <strong>Ameristar East Chicago<\/strong> rose 6%. (Never undersell the Ameristar brand.) <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> was flat at both <strong>Horseshoe Southern Indiana<\/strong> and <strong>Horseshoe Hammond<\/strong>, although the latter reported a massive, $38 million gross.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Penn National Gaming<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Lawrenceburg<\/strong> casino is still struggling to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/CasinoAztar.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1903\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/CasinoAztar-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"CasinoAztar\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/CasinoAztar-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/CasinoAztar-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/CasinoAztar.jpg 306w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>regain its mojo, down 7%. <strong>Full House Resorts<\/strong>&#8216; <strong>Rising Sun<\/strong> also continues to feel the brunt of Ohio competition, down 8%. <strong>Tropicana Evansville<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>left<\/em>) remained stable. Among the various smaller properties, <strong>French Lick Resort<\/strong> shot up 12%, while <strong>Boyd Gaming<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Blue Chip<\/strong> continues to fend off tribal competition from <strong>Michigan<\/strong>, gaining 1%. What&#8217;s sauce for <strong>Majestic Star II<\/strong> (+7%) wasn&#8217;t sauce for <strong>Majestic Star I<\/strong> (-5%).
