Sen. <strong>John Barrasso<\/strong> (R) put the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/mccain.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-15359\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/mccain.jpg\" alt=\"mccain\" width=\"199\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/mccain.jpg 199w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/mccain-117x150.jpg 117w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px\" \/><\/a>gripes in a nutshell when he said,\u00a0\u201cThe commission is not effectively promoting voluntary compliance with federal guidelines related to gaming regulatory standards.\u201d NIGA Chairman <strong>Ernie Stevens<\/strong>&#8216; <a href=\"http:\/\/ggbnews.com\/issue\/vol-13-no-31-august-3-2015\/article\/senators-call-for-more-oversight-of-tribal-casinos\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">defended the tribes&#8217; plethora of self-regulatory regimes<\/a> by saying,\u00a0\u201cI challenge anyone to find a better regulatory system worldwide.\u201d (I can think of a few.)<\/p>\n<p>That wasn&#8217;t good enough for Sen. <strong>John McCain<\/strong> (R), who noted that the <strong>General Accounting Office<\/strong> found 25% of tribal casinos to be at <!--more-->elevated risk of audit. When NIGC Chairman\u00a0<strong>Jonodev Chaudhuri<\/strong> tried to dance around the issue, McCain unleashed some of his trademark asperity, zinging,\u00a0\u201cObviously you\u2019re not going to answer the question.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>* Good news for casinos: home affordability is at its greatest <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.rismedia.com\/2015\/new-american-perspectives-re-drawing-the-u-s-map-based-on-housing\/\" target=\"_blank\">in some of the jurisdictions where the industry is expanding<\/a>, implying greater discretionary income. According to <em>Global Gaming Business<\/em>, the initial phase of Tiger Resort &#8220;will include two hotels, 1,000 rooms, 500 gaming tables, a nightclub and a man-made beach underneath a glass dome.&#8221; Already, <strong>Bloomberry Resorts<\/strong>&#8216; <strong>Solaire<\/strong> (<em>pictured<\/em>) and <strong>Melco Crown Entertainment<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>City of Dreams of Manila<\/strong> have long since beaten Okada to the post.
