Owner <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/uk.reuters.com\/article\/2015\/10\/27\/caesars-bankruptcy-idUKL1N12R22L20151027\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has scratched a planned auction of the property<\/a> because nobody except stalking horse <strong>TJM<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/HarrahsTunicaExterior.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-6934\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/HarrahsTunicaExterior-150x99.jpg\" alt=\"HarrahsTunicaExterior\" width=\"150\" height=\"99\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/HarrahsTunicaExterior-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/HarrahsTunicaExterior.jpg 618w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><strong>Properties<\/strong> has shown an interest in the building. TJM specializes in senior-living facilities. Is <strong>Tunica<\/strong> about to become the retirement capital of the South? I doubt even TJM thinks that, as it only offering $3 million for Harrah&#8217;s Tunica, barely paring so much as a hangnail off Caesars&#8217; debt burden.<\/p>\n<p>* Take <strong>Windsor Locks<\/strong> out of the running for a third <strong>Connecticut<\/strong> tribal casino. In a party-line vote, city selectmen nixed <!--more-->a plan to put a casino at <strong>Bradley International Airport<\/strong>. &#8220;We just lost an opportunity for job creation and tax revenue for the town of Windsor Locks and the state of Connecticut,&#8221; lamented dissenter <strong>Steven N. Wawruck<\/strong> (D), after a hotly debated town meeting. Rep. <strong>Peggy Sayers<\/strong> (D), meanwhile, raised the prospect of circumventing the host-community vote by creating a back-door approval process in the Legislature. That&#8217;s a tall order, what with RFPs due by Nov. 6 and a Dec. 15 decision promised by <strong>Foxwoods Resort Casino<\/strong> and <strong>Mohegan Sun<\/strong>. Still in the running are <strong>East Hartford<\/strong>, <strong>Enfield<\/strong>, <strong>Hartford<\/strong> and <strong>East Windsor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>* Despite the <strong>Florida<\/strong> Legislature&#8217;s inefficacy at expanding the state&#8217;s casino industry, anti-gambling activist <strong>John Sowinski<\/strong> isn&#8217;t taking any chances. He&#8217;s created an Astroturf movement, <strong>Voters in Charge<\/strong>, which would reserve the power to authorize new casinos and forms of gambling solely to citizen initiatives. Extending an olive branch to the <strong>Seminole Tribe<\/strong>, Sowinski said it was not his desire to \u201climit the ability of the state or Native American tribes to negotiate gaming compacts [for] casino gambling on tribal lands, or to affect any existing gambling on tribal lands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Scarlet Pearl Casino<\/strong> is still two months away from opening in <strong>D&#8217;Iberville<\/strong>, <strong>Mississippi<\/strong>, but city officials <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunherald.com\/news\/article41504937.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">are already merrily <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunherald.com\/news\/article41504937.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\"><br \/>\nspending the $1.3 million<\/a> the casino is expected to generate for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Scarlet-Pearl.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-12456\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Scarlet-Pearl-300x243.jpeg\" alt=\"Scarlet Pearl\" width=\"300\" height=\"243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Scarlet-Pearl-300x243.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Scarlet-Pearl-150x121.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Scarlet-Pearl.jpeg 620w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>city. Palm trees have been planted along the I-10\/I-110 interchange and\u00a0&#8220;We gave our employees a good pay raise,&#8221; City Councilman <strong>Henry Toncrey<\/strong> said. Rainy-day expenditures including the purchase of a trio of fire trucks, including &#8220;a platform ladder truck that would be needed to fight a fire at the casino tower,&#8221; according to the <em>Biloxi Sun-Herald<\/em>. Slightly under a million dollars remains unspent, and will be dedicated to public-safety and educational budgets.
