Even with the valuable Horseshoe brand, all three had been losing business in recent months. Caesars had long ago sold its minority share of the three properties to <strong>Rock Gaming<\/strong> owner <strong>Dan Gilbert<\/strong>. Now it will lose the revenue stream that came with running them on Gilbert&#8217;s behalf. It&#8217;s a tragic end for Caesars, which sold lucrative <strong>Harrah&#8217;s Maryland Heights<\/strong> to get into <strong>Ohio<\/strong> and now has nothing to show for it.<\/p>\n<p>The real losers may be players, who will no longer have access to <strong>Total Rewards<\/strong>. Rock Gaming CEO <strong>Matt Cullen<\/strong>&#8216;s statement that\u00a0<!--more-->&#8220;We view this as an opportunity to leverage our unique culture and vast network of companies to grow the business and further connect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Cincy-casino-ext.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4355\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Cincy-casino-ext-300x176.jpg\" alt=\"Cincy casino ext\" width=\"300\" height=\"176\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Cincy-casino-ext-300x176.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Cincy-casino-ext-150x88.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Cincy-casino-ext.jpg 339w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>the casinos to the downtown areas where they reside&#8221; is hardly an answer to the problem. Total Rewards accruals will be rolled into a new, Rock Gaming loyalty program. Today&#8217;s news doesn&#8217;t constitute a complete divorce between Gilbert and Caesars. His company still partners with Caesars in <strong>Horseshoe Baltimore<\/strong>, although who can say how long that will endure, given this surprising turn of event and Caesars CEO <strong>Mark Frissora<\/strong>&#8216;s reputation for cutting costs? (In case you missed it, The Rio&#8217;s seafood buffet fell victim to Frissora&#8217;s frugality.)<\/p>\n<p>* Parking fees on the Strip are already standard at <strong>Vdara<\/strong> and <strong>Mandarin Oriental<\/strong>. Now <strong>MGM Resorts International<\/strong> is starting to sneak them at other casinos under the premise of special events. Non-hotel guests had to pay $30 to park their cars in the Excalibur garage for\u00a0the <strong>Mayweather-Pacquiao<\/strong> fight and during the <strong>Route 91<\/strong> country-music festival. You don&#8217;t have to have a Ph.D to realize that MGM is testing customer resistance at The Ex and, depending on how remunerative parking fees are, will expand them to other Strip garages as the <strong>MGM\/AEG Arena<\/strong> comes on line.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.cnbc.com\/p\/gZWlPC\/cnbc_global?playertype=synd&amp;byGuid=3000439583&amp;size=530_298\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jim Murren<\/strong>, meanwhile, explains why <strong>Bellagio<\/strong>, <strong>MGM Grand<\/strong> and <strong>Circus Circus<\/strong> got left out of the company&#8217;s planned REIT conversion.
