So how did the Boardwalk fare? Even with an extra <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Atlantic-City.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-16131\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Atlantic-City-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Atlantic City\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Atlantic-City-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Atlantic-City-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Atlantic-City.jpg 801w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>weekend day, revenue dipped 3%. Slot coin-in and winnings (or &#8220;losses&#8221; if you&#8217;re a player) were both down a percentage point. Although table-game wagering was flat with last year, casino winnings fell 9%.<\/p>\n<p>Lady Luck smiled on <strong>Borgata<\/strong> ($58 million), however, where revenues were up 11%. Coin-in rose 12% and winnings 11%. Table play was up very modestly (1%) but the house played lucky, <!--more-->winning 9% than last October. By contrast, players creamed <strong>Caesars Atlantic City<\/strong> ($23 million), which was 25% off last year&#8217;s pace. The only plausible explanation for Caesars&#8217; constant, high volatility is that <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> shepherds all its VIPs there &#8212; although that could change if <strong>Harrah&#8217;s Resort<\/strong>\u00a0is permanently spun off into &#8220;good Caesars,&#8221; with the other top-echelon properties.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Harrah&#8217;s ($29 million), it was down 10%, and the low-roller strategy continues to be a bit of struggle for <strong>Bally&#8217;s Atlantic City<\/strong> ($17 million), off 2.5%. Business was flat at <strong>Tropicana Atlantic<\/strong> <strong>City<\/strong>, which logged $22 million in revenue.<\/p>\n<p>At the risk of &#8216;burying the lead,&#8217; then-CEO <strong>Bob Griffin<\/strong> of <strong>Trump Taj Mahal<\/strong> can leave with a &#8220;Mission Accomplished&#8221; banner flying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Taj-Mahal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6772\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Taj-Mahal.jpg\" alt=\"Taj Mahal\" width=\"175\" height=\"140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Taj-Mahal.jpg 175w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Taj-Mahal-150x120.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 175px) 100vw, 175px\" \/><\/a>high: The Taj slid into last place ($14 million), plunging\u00a019% and passing <strong>Resorts Atlantic City<\/strong> ($15 million, 21% up) on the way down. Congratulations to\u00a0<strong>Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority<\/strong> and good riddance to Bungling Bob, one of the most hapless\u00a0CEOs I&#8217;ve ever covered. As for Resorts, it finished just\u00a0the tiniest fraction\u00a0behind <strong>Golden Nugget<\/strong> ($15 million, flat with 2014). Look out, <strong>Tilman Fertitta<\/strong>! The Mohegans are coming for you next.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Alabama<\/strong> citizens are getting an extra-large Christmas present in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/victoryland.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8640\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/victoryland.jpg\" alt=\"victoryland\" width=\"294\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/victoryland.jpg 294w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/victoryland-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 294px) 100vw, 294px\" \/><\/a>the form of a December 25 reopening of VictoryLand. That&#8217;s if owner <strong>Milton McGregor<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.al.com\/news\/index.ssf\/2015\/11\/milton_mcgregor_hopes_to_open.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">can get Santa to deliver new electronic bingo machines<\/a>. McGregor lost his appeal to have 1,615 machines previously seized by the state restored to him. According to <em>The Associated Press<\/em>, McGregor&#8217;s lawyer said that &#8220;VictoryLand workers were doubtful that those machines would have worked anyway if returned.&#8221; After all, they&#8217;d been gathering dust since 2013.<\/p>\n<p>McGregor&#8217;s running a risk. State Attorney General <strong>Luther Strange<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>below<\/em>) still lusts to shut VictoryLand down for good, even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Strange.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-16682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Strange.jpg\" alt=\"Strange\" width=\"201\" height=\"251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Strange.jpg 201w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Strange-120x150.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 201px) 100vw, 201px\" \/><\/a>though\u00a0Montgomery Circuit Judge <strong>William Shashy<\/strong> ruled that the machines are constitutional in <strong>Macon County<\/strong>. McGregor holds that voters knew, for all the Class II bells and whistles, it was electronic bingo they voted into law, not balls and daubed paper. Strange will be further hampered by an executive order from Gov. <strong>Robert Bentley<\/strong> (R) devolving the enforcement of gambling laws to sheriffs and districts.
