The DFS providers said they&#8217;d accept regulation but stopped well short of outlining just what would constitute fair oversight in their mind. <strong>Fantasy Sports Trade Association<\/strong> Chairman <strong>Peter Schoenke<\/strong>&#8216;s call for \u201cboundaries so these games are fair to everyone.\u201d seems to be as specific as things got.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Pretlow.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-13742\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Pretlow-194x300.jpg\" alt=\"Pretlow\" width=\"194\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Pretlow-194x300.jpg 194w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Pretlow-97x150.jpg 97w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Pretlow.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 194px) 100vw, 194px\" \/><\/a>The one clear, bright line that was drawn was <strong>Assembly Racing &amp; Wagering Committee<\/strong> Chairman <strong>Gary Pretlow<\/strong>&#8216;s statement that the legality of DFS was the province of the judiciary and that lawmakers were there to find out <em>how<\/em> the industry works. Indeed, they seemed as much in the dark on that matter as the DFS proponents were vague about regulation. The one exception was Assemblyman <strong>Dean Murray<\/strong> (R), who plays DFS in his spare time and called it &#8220;nothing more than day trading for sports fans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Strangely, state Attorney General <strong>Eric Schneiderman<\/strong> declined an invitation to speak at the hearing, leaving the &#8220;con&#8221; argument to be made mainly by anti-gambling groups &#8230; <!--more-->hardly a segment you would expect to approve <em>any<\/em> form of DFS. <strong>Stop Predatory Gambling<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Les Bernal<\/strong> was clearly panicked that New York solons were rooting around for a new form of taxable revenue, saying,\u00a0\u201cThis is a \u2018Hail Mary\u2019 investment strategy perpetuated by state government, and it\u2019s wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>* It only took two decades of waiting (bisected by <strong>Hurricane Katrina<\/strong>) but <strong>D&#8217;Iberville<\/strong>, <strong>Mississippi<\/strong> finally has its own casino, the <strong>Scarlet Pearl Casino<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunherald.com\/news\/article48553785.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">which opens today<\/a>. In addition to 1,350 slot machines, 45 table games and 36 holes of miniature golf, the Scarlet Pearl has its own volcano, just like <strong>The Mirage<\/strong>. (Well, sorta.)
