Both <strong>Pinnacle Entertainment<\/strong> and <strong>Penn <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7548\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/River-City-0-1-300x172.jpg\" alt=\"River City-0-1\" width=\"300\" height=\"172\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/River-City-0-1-300x172.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/River-City-0-1-150x86.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/River-City-0-1.jpg 339w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>National Gaming<\/strong> came in comfortably above <strong>Deutsche Bank<\/strong> analyst <strong>Carlo Santarelli<\/strong>&#8216;s projections for the month. Pinnacle&#8217;s <strong>River City<\/strong> grossed $19 million (+12%), while its <strong>Ameristar St. Charles<\/strong>\u00a0property hauled in $22 million (+2%). To the west, <strong>Ameristar Kansas City<\/strong> grossed $17 million (+9%). Penn brought in $19 million (+5%) at <strong>Hollywood Casino St. Louis<\/strong> and, in <strong>Kansas City<\/strong>, $13 million from <strong>Argosy Riverside<\/strong> for a 15% gain.<\/p>\n<p>It was a good month for everybody in the Show-Me State, with not one casino posting a revenue-negative month. The <strong>Isle of Capri Casinos<\/strong> quartet fared well, including a 4% uptick (to $7 million) in <!--more-->Kansas City and a 21% leap at its <strong>Lady Luck<\/strong> property in <strong>Caruthersville<\/strong>. Its <strong>Cape Girardeau<\/strong> casino was up 9%, to $6 million, while Isle grew business 10%, to $7 million, in <strong>Boonville<\/strong>. Not to be lost in all the good news was a 4% bump (to $14 million) at <strong>Harrah&#8217;s North Kansas City<\/strong>, while <strong>Tropicana Entertainment<\/strong> appears to have turned the corner at <strong>Lumiere Place<\/strong>, up 7%, to $12 million.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Trump International<\/strong> will be facing a <strong>National Labor Relations Board<\/strong> complaint that it basically bribed workers to cease supporting the <strong>Culinary Union<\/strong>&#8216;s efforts to organize workers at the <strong>Las Vegas Strip<\/strong> hotel. \u00a0Specifically, the complaint alleges the offer by a Trump consultant of \u201cjob opportunities to transfer to different positions\u201d to <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6467\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/trump-2.jpg\" alt=\"trump 2\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/trump-2.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/trump-2-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>potential defectors. In addition to accusing Trump of\u00a0\u201chas been interfering with, restraining and coercing\u201d the complaint furthermore <a href=\"http:\/\/vegasinc.com\/business\/2016\/mar\/09\/trump-international-faces-april-hearing-over-labor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">alleges that employees were either fired or denied transfers<\/a> on the grounds that they \u201cformed, joined and assisted the union and engaged in concerted activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As might be expect, Trump International responded that the complaint consisted of &#8220;baseless allegations&#8221; and was &#8220;completely without merit.&#8221; In a rerun of events at Trump&#8217;s former\u00a0<strong>Atlantic City<\/strong> properties, employees voted for union representation and management ignored the outcome, contending that the election was unfair. (Sounds like a certain presidential candidate we know.)\u00a0<strong>William S. Boyd School of Law<\/strong> professor <strong>Ruben Garcia<\/strong> told the <em>Las Vegas Sun<\/em>\u00a0that the April 12 hearing is a benchmark for the Culinary Union:\u00a0\u201cThat doesn\u2019t mean, of course, that the Trump is guilty at this point, but they have gotten a little further than simply saying \u2018we alleged all these things happened, and we\u2019re gonna have a factual hearing.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>* A proposed state takeover of Atlantic City &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/politics\/index.ssf\/2016\/03\/how_nj_residents_feel_about_ac_takeover_north_jersey_casinos.html\" class=\"broken_link\">unpopular within the state<\/a> &#8212; inspired a spirited protest earlier today, requiring the intervention of state troopers. Atlantic City Mayor <strong>Don Guardian<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-12372\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Guardian.png\" alt=\"Guardian\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Guardian.png 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Guardian-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>(R) continues to distance himself from the <em>coup d&#8217;etat<\/em>, saying, &#8220;It deprives the residents of Atlantic City of even the most modest elements of self-government&#8221; and that it would create a &#8220;fascist dictatorship.&#8221; However, Guardian may not have much choice. The city is two weeks from bankruptcy and any aid from the state is contingent on the takeover bill and the PILOT plan that would give casinos fixed-rate payments to the city in lieu of property taxes. The former is a sweeping measure that would give <strong>New Jersey<\/strong> authority &#8220;break contracts, dissolve agencies and sell off city assets and land.&#8221; Those provisions &#8212; specifically the contract-abrogation one &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pressofatlanticcity.com\/business\/prieto-to-pba-no-atlantic-city-takeover-without-protecting-contracts\/article_9cd3d47e-e6dc-11e5-9a87-0744958d2ce7.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">don&#8217;t sit well<\/a> with Assembly Speaker <strong>Vincent Prieto<\/strong> (D) and he&#8217;s not scheduling a vote in the state House of Representatives until he gets a bill more to his liking.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Foot traffic in Missouri casinos was up 3%, as customers spent 4% more than last year, leading to an 8% increase in casino revenue.
