It looks like Dan Gilbert<\/strong> is gaining traction with his “Jack” brand (soon to be slathered over Greektown Casino<\/strong> in Gilbert’s native Detroit<\/strong>). Although Jack Cincinnati<\/strong> was flat ($15 \"thistledown\"million), its counterparts in Cleveland<\/strong> ($17 million) and at ThistleDown Racino<\/strong> ($10 million) were up 8% and 16%, respectively, last month. Hard Rock Rocksino<\/strong> continued to lead the state with $18 million (up 3%). Statewide gaming revenues were up 4% despite a 2% dip in the Penn National Gaming<\/strong> portfolio. Culprits were Hollywood Toledo<\/strong> ($15 million, -7%) and Hollywood Columbus<\/strong> ($17 million, -3%). Slot revenues dominated the cash count, representing 84% of revenues, and the house played lucky, raking in 6% more table game revenue on 6% less money wagered.<\/p>\n

Eldorado Resorts<\/strong>‘ Scioto Downs<\/strong> had a good month, up 7% to $12 million, as did Miami Valley Gaming<\/strong>, riding a 13% increase to $11 million. Belterra Park<\/strong> made almost $7 million, atop a 13% surge in business. Penn’s racinos continued to do well, although Hollywood Austintown<\/strong> fell back toward the pack with ‘only’ $278\/win\/slot\/day. It grossed $8 million, up 3%, while Hollywood Dayton<\/strong> bounced 6% up, to $7 million. True, there was one extra weekend day last month, but that doesn’t account for such healthy numbers overall — or for the anemia at Penn’s two flagship properties.
