The biggest gain was in <strong>Ohio<\/strong>, where casino <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-10930\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Cincinnati_Casino_Rendering-300x138.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"138\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Cincinnati_Casino_Rendering-300x138.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Cincinnati_Casino_Rendering-150x69.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Cincinnati_Casino_Rendering.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>win rose 7%, even though players continue to blow off <strong>Jack Cleveland<\/strong> ($18 million, -8%). Statewide leader <strong>Hard Rock Rocksino<\/strong> grossed $21.5 million, up 6%. Close behind was <strong>Hollywood Columbus<\/strong>, up 9% for $21 million. <strong>Hollywood Toledo<\/strong> ($18 million) was flat, while <strong>Jack Cincinnati<\/strong> rose 9%, to $18.5 million. Out at the raciness business was just as good with <strong>Hollywood Dayton<\/strong> ($9.5 million) registering an eye-popping 21% gain. <strong>Hollywood Mahoning Valley<\/strong> ($10 million) was up 13.5%, while <strong>Eldorado Resorts<\/strong>&#8216; <strong>Scioto Downs<\/strong> gained 9% for a $15 million gross.<\/p>\n<p>Other racinos doing well were <strong>Dan Gilbert<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Thistledown<\/strong>, grossing $10.5 million on an <!--more-->11.5% increase. <strong>Miami Valley Gaming<\/strong> rode a 13.5% improvement to a $14 million haul. Finally, <strong>Belterra Park<\/strong> made a 14% gain to a $7.5 million finish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Missouri<\/strong> casinos saw 2% higher visitation and 4% freer spending, lifting the statewide gross 6%. <strong>Ameristar Kansas City<\/strong>\u00a0($18 million) was microscopically down but all other casinos in the Show-Me state showed revenue-positive results. Statewide leader was <strong>Ameristar St. <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-16028\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/ameristar-st-charles-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/ameristar-st-charles-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/ameristar-st-charles-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/ameristar-st-charles.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Charles<\/strong>, up 5% to $25 million. <strong>Pinnacle Entertainment<\/strong> was also 5% up at <strong>River City<\/strong>, pulling in $21 million. <strong>Penn National Gaming<\/strong>-managed properties fared well. <strong>Argosy Riverside<\/strong>, in <strong>Kansas City<\/strong>, was up 9.5% to $14.5 million. <strong>Hollywood St. Louis<\/strong> did even better, grossing $23 million for a 9% increase. (Selling this money-spinner was one of the stupidest of <strong>Gary Loveman<\/strong>&#8216;s many stupid actions as <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> CEO.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tropicana Entertainment<\/strong> had a good month at that hard nut to crack, <strong>Lumiere Place<\/strong>. It was 7.5% up for $14 million in takings. All four <strong>Isle of Capri Casinos<\/strong> did between 2% and 7% better, grossing an aggregate $25 million while <strong>Affinity Gaming<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Mark Twain Casino<\/strong> was up 4% for \u00a0a $3 million gross.<\/p>\n<p>In <strong>Indiana<\/strong>, admissions were slightly down but spend-per-visitor rose 5%. Only two casinos were revenue-negative: <strong>Ameristar East <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-14189\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Ameristar-East-Chicago-300x93.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"93\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Ameristar-East-Chicago-300x93.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Ameristar-East-Chicago-150x46.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Ameristar-East-Chicago.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Chicago<\/strong> ($21 million, -3%) and ill-starred <strong>Majestic Star II<\/strong>, down 8.5% to $6 million. <strong>Majestic Star I<\/strong>, clearly the more appealing of the two vessels, pocketed $9.5 million, a 10% increase. <strong>Hollywood Lawrenceburg<\/strong> ($16 million) was flat but <strong>Full House Resorts<\/strong>&#8216; <strong>Rising Star<\/strong> was up 3.5% to $5 million. Caesars dominated the Hoosier State market, grossing $39.5 million at <strong>Horseshoe Hammond<\/strong> (+2%) and $23 million (+4%) at <strong>Horseshoe Southern Indiana<\/strong>. Pinnacle&#8217;s <strong>Belterra<\/strong> had an exceptional month, up 18,5% to $10 million.<\/p>\n<p>Life was good for <strong>French Lick Resort<\/strong>, which slurped up $8.5 million, a 15.5% improvement. Ongoing construction didn&#8217;t impede business at <strong>Tropicana Evansville<\/strong>, up 2% to $11.5 million. <strong>Boyd Gaming<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Blue Chip<\/strong> staved off tribal competition from <strong>Michigan<\/strong> to gross $15 million, a 4% gain. At the racinos the slots were getting the better of the bettors. <strong>Indiana Downs<\/strong> grossed $26 million (+9.5%) and <strong>Hoosier Park<\/strong> climbed 7% to reach $21 million. Maybe all this good news is a passing phenomenon (we hope) but it&#8217;s good to see players opening their wallets to this extent.<\/p>\n<p>* Advocates of any online-gambling bill that includes <strong>PokerStars<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cardplayer.com\/poker-news\/21521-bicycle-casino-raid-could-hurt-pokerstars-chances-in-california-tribal-gaming-insider-says\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">just hit a stumbling block<\/a>. The i-gaming giant is suffering guilt by <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-19599\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/californiastate-seal-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/californiastate-seal-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/californiastate-seal-150x113.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/californiastate-seal-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/californiastate-seal.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>association from its partnership with the recently raided <strong>Bicycle Casino<\/strong> card room. PokerStars isn&#8217;t targeted in the investigation but it could get tarred all thee same. Already, PokerStars is said to have pulled its lobbying efforts in <strong>Sacramento<\/strong> way (and parent <strong>Amaya<\/strong> is emphasizing its non-<strong>Internet<\/strong> products), way back. A deal is said to be &#8220;98%&#8221; finished but until PokerStars agrees to be punished for prior bad acts we don&#8217;t believe the longstanding impasse in the Legislature is going to be resolved.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Nevada<\/strong> GOP fixers <strong>Paul and Sue Lowden<\/strong> are chagrined that iconic neon sign <strong>Vegas Vic<\/strong>, which they own, has been had his image <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/nation\/la-na-vegas-vic-republican-20170407-story.html\" target=\"_blank\">hijacked<\/a> by an outspoken political blogger named <strong>@VegasVictory<\/strong> with a fixation on <strong>Hillary Clinton<\/strong>. At least <strong>Sassy Sally<\/strong> and <strong>Wendover Will<\/strong> remain apolitical for the time being.<\/p>\n<p>* Times must be tough at <strong>Casa de Shenandoah<\/strong>. Apparently lacking enough senior citizens interested in seeing how <strong>Wayne Newton<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2130\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Wayne+Newton-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Wayne+Newton-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Wayne+Newton-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Wayne+Newton.jpg 409w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>lived, the tourist site is initiated kiddie excursions that &#8220;highlight the attraction\u2019s beautiful exotic animals and provide exciting exhibits that all ages will enjoy.&#8221; Yes, you get to see Penguin Island, Monkey Manor and Wallaby World, just for starters.
