He would prefer to keep the bird in the hand that is Connecticut&#8217;s current revenue stream for <strong>Foxwoods Resort Casino<\/strong> and <strong>Mohegan Sun<\/strong> than risk it for whatever&#8217;s in the bush.\u00a0&#8220;I will not sign a transaction or bill that puts into real danger our existing arrangement with the tribal nations, nor would anyone in this building who thought about it,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Malloy was cagier on the matter of a satellite casino itself.\u00a0&#8220;I&#8217;m not pushing it, or pushing against&#8221; an <strong>East Windsor<\/strong> tribal casino.\u00a0&#8220;But I always believe you should <!--more-->have a realistic discussion about realistic outcomes, and it&#8217;s not realistic to put $260 million or more at risk.&#8221;\u00a0<strong>MGM Resorts International<\/strong> lost no time in protesting the governor&#8217;s Solomonic wisdom, with counsel <strong>Uri Clinton<\/strong> calling for a &#8220;<strong>New York<\/strong>-facing casino with a 35% tax rate would generate more than $260 million in tax revenue and fees.&#8221; Does Clinton really think one casino can replace the amount of taxes generated by Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun <em>combined<\/em>? Especially with Gotham casinos only a few years out? With due respect, we think MGM is drinking its own bathwater on this issue.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/players.brightcove.net\/2111767321001\/default_default\/index.html?videoId=5441396634001\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The casino industry is at the forefront of the guest-service revolution. <strong>Wynncore<\/strong> is in the process of installing <strong>Echo<\/strong>\u00a0units in all 4,748 guest rooms. <strong>Aria<\/strong> has already embraced <strong>Control14<\/strong> tablets, <a href=\"http:\/\/fortune.com\/2017\/05\/20\/hotels-high-tech-gadgets-travel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">which allow mechanization of all guest-room functions<\/a>. But, seriously, isn&#8217;t it easier to close the drapes manually than figure out how to do it on a remote? Then again, I should hardly gripe: My knees are so shot that every time I have to get up a cost\/benefit analysis has to be performed. On second thought, I definitely see the appeal of the new gizmos.<\/p>\n<p>* Foxwoods CEO <strong>Felix Rappaport<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hartfordbusiness.com\/article\/20161010\/PRINTEDITION\/310069948\/ct-casinos-focus-on-growing-millennial-gaming-experience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">promised to try and drive more Millennials<\/a> to his casino and he&#8217;s making good on his promise. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hartfordbusiness.com\/article\/20170522\/NEWS01\/170529996\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">He&#8217;s installed six skill-based slots<\/a> made by <strong>GameCo<\/strong>. Obviously, it remains to be seen how they perform but GameCo. CEO <strong>Blaine Graboyes<\/strong> is emerging as the prime mover in the SBS field. <strong>Gamblit<\/strong> had better get on with it before Graboyes eats its lunch.<\/p>\n<p>* If you&#8217;re a <strong>Borgata<\/strong> player &#8212; or a &#8220;Question of the Day&#8221; reader &#8212; and were wondering when, if ever, <strong>Mlife<\/strong> was going to kick in, your prayers have been answered.
