First off, the proposed site was ostensibly intended for an as-yet-unbuilt <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-12194\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Iowa-seal.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"224\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Iowa-seal.jpg 224w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Iowa-seal-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/>tribal medical facility. Secondly, Council Bluffs is already home to one <strong>Ameristar<\/strong>-branded <strong>Pinnacle Entertainment<\/strong> casino and two <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> properties.\u00a0City Attorney <strong>Dick Wade<\/strong> is hunkering down for another court fight.\u00a0\u201cWe don\u2019t think the action of the [<strong>National<\/strong>] <strong>Indian Gaming Commission<\/strong> is consistent with their rules and the way the land was originally put into trust,\u201d he told the press.<\/p>\n<p>The 4,100-member Ponca Tribe, if it prevails, would build a 2,000-slot, 50-table game-casino. It would also be <!--more-->exempt from Iowa&#8217;s 26% casino tax, a sore point with Council Bluffs. Wade, who evidently hasn&#8217;t heard about how tight tribal slots tend to be, remarked,\u00a0\u201cThey could easily have their machines set to pay out 5 to 10 percent more than the machines in an Iowa-regulated facility would have and still make more of a profit, which would draw gamblers away from Iowa casinos.\u00a0It\u2019s not like it would be anywhere near an even playing field,\u201d he whined.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>MGM Resorts International<\/strong> isn&#8217;t waiting for the <strong>Supreme Court<\/strong> to rule on the constitutionality of sports betting. It&#8217;s already <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/politics\/index.ssf\/2017\/11\/nj_is_prepping_for_legal_sports_betting_maybe_soon.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">committed $7 million<\/a> to build a <strong>Borgata<\/strong> sports book.<\/p>\n<p>* They&#8217;re going to dissect <strong>Stephen Paddock<\/strong>&#8216;s brain to try and find out why he snapped and killed 58 people at <strong>Mandalay Bay<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/lasvegassun.com\/news\/2017\/nov\/26\/in-times-of-crisis-the-gaming-industry-often-calls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Seriously<\/a>. The events of Oct. 1 remain a mystery for the ages, so why not try everything science has at its disposal?<\/p>\n<p>* The government of <strong>Japan<\/strong> is taking input from U.S. universities on how to implement casino gambling in the Land of the Rising Sun. Not surprisingly, the <strong>UNLV<\/strong>-authored study recommends <strong>Nevad<\/strong>a&#8217;s regulatory model <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reviewjournal.com\/business\/casinos-gaming\/unlv-gaming-research-may-influence-decisions-on-japan-casinos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">as the one Nippon should follow<\/a>.
