The deal makes a fool of <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2854\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Wynn-laughs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Wynn-laughs.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Wynn-laughs-111x150.jpg 111w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>Packer, who paid $570 million for the site in 2014 and didn&#8217;t even get the $400 million everything-must-go price he&#8217;d been seeking. Compared to <strong>Penn National Gaming<\/strong>&#8216;s $10.5 million\/acre for the <strong>Tropicana Las Vegas<\/strong>, Wynn drove a hard bargain, but not as hard as the <strong>Las Vegas Convention &amp; Visitors Bureau<\/strong>, which scored the huge Riviera site for $7 million\/acre. (The real fools were <strong>Elad Properties<\/strong>, who paid <strong>Phil Ruffin<\/strong> an epic $1.3 billion back in 2007, just before the <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong> bubble burst.) Incidentally, the Wynn acquisition should raise the value of adjoining acreage held by <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong>, where Tower II of <strong>Trump International<\/strong> was once meant to rise.<\/p>\n<p>Having taken Packer to the cleaners, speculation will now be rife as to what <strong>Steve Wynn<\/strong> will do with the land, which he once mulled as a convention-center site. While he try to one-up <strong>T-Mobile Arena<\/strong> by &#8212; as one <em>S&amp;G<\/em> reader suggests, putting up an <strong>NBA<\/strong>-friendly sports arena? I&#8217;m loath to bet against that. <strong>Deutsche Bank<\/strong> analyst <strong>Carlo Santarelli<\/strong> speculates, &#8220;with the <strong>Paradise Park<\/strong> development getting underway in less than a month, we do not see a development on the new site as part of the near-term agenda. That said, the parcel is nicely positioned between the <strong>Fashion Show Mall<\/strong> and the soon to be developed <strong>Resorts World Las Vegas<\/strong>. The value of the land is also likely to be enhanced by the proximity to the <strong>Las Vegas Convention Center<\/strong> expansion, which is expected to be completed in <!--more-->2021. Accordingly, we believe the most likely path for WYNN is one of patience.&#8221; In other words, instead of trying to bring the Strip past\u00a0<strong>Wynncore<\/strong>, El Steve can wait for the Strip to come to him.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>MotorCity Casino<\/strong> drove the bus in <strong>Detroit<\/strong> last month, <a href=\"https:\/\/wdet.org\/posts\/2017\/12\/12\/86158-detroit-casino-revenue-up-in-november-compared-to-last-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">up 3%<\/a> ($38 million), while <strong>MGM Grand Detroit<\/strong> ($48.5 million) and <strong>Jack Detroit<\/strong> ($26 million) were flat.<\/p>\n<p>* The <strong>NFL<\/strong> can hardly be shocked &#8212; shocked! &#8212; by sports betting when it&#8217;s holding <strong>Superbowl LIV<\/strong> in <strong>Hard Rock Stadium<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/a-giant-guitar-building-is-coming-to-hard-rock-casino\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">near burgeoning<\/a> <strong>Seminole Hard Rock <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-20779\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Guitar-Building-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Guitar-Building-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Guitar-Building-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Guitar-Building-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Guitar-Building.jpg 986w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Hotel &amp; Casino<\/strong>. If this is what the <strong>Seminole Tribe<\/strong> can do for <strong>Hollywood, Florida<\/strong>, we can wait to see what they&#8217;ve got in store for <strong>Atlantic City<\/strong>, where they&#8217;re reinventing <strong>Trump Taj Mahal<\/strong> as a 21st century casino. Tribal gaming is in an expansive mood this week, with <a href=\"https:\/\/news.worldcasinodirectory.com\/minnesota-tribe-holds-groundbreaking-for-casino-replacement-51761\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">groundbreakings for a new<\/a> <strong>Palace Casino<\/strong>, in <strong>Cass Lake, Minnesota<\/strong>, and a new <strong>Quil Ceda Creek Casino<\/strong>, in <strong>Tulalip, Washington<\/strong>, The former&#8217;s progenitor had become dilapidated while the original Quil Ceda was crammed to bursting.
