Straub says no; R.I.P., Keely Smith"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Revel<\/strong>\/<strong>Ten<\/strong> may have yet another name soon, now that wannabe buyer <strong>Bruce Defik<\/strong> has done what <strong>Glenn Straub<\/strong> wouldn&#8217;t: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pressofatlanticcity.com\/ap\/state\/would-be-revel-buyers-filed-for-new-jersey-casino-license\/article_e91d5e5e-38fc-5538-aee8-438de414a762.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">apply for<\/a> a <strong>New Jersey<\/strong> gaming license. Straub continues to assert that there is no deal in place but &#8220;a court proceeding involving whether <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-11070\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/low_revel-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/low_revel-199x300.jpg 199w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/low_revel-99x150.jpg 99w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/low_revel.jpg 412w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px\" \/>Straub needs a casino license to open Revel under the name Ten include details of a mortgage the proposed buyers have obtained,&#8221; reports <em>The Press of Atlantic City<\/em>. Defik would spend $200,000 on purchasing Revel, plus $175,000 sprucing the place up. The 200 million clams would ensure Straub &#8212; who bought Revel for $82 million &#8212; of a healthy profit. Defik <a href=\"https:\/\/news.worldcasinodirectory.com\/rumored-ten-atlantic-city-buyers-have-applied-for-a-casino-license-51849\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">plans 2,000 slots and 100 table games<\/a> for the casino. Straub, meanwhile, continues to live in a world of his own.\u00a0\u201cIf someone has a check, I do sell assets.\u00a0We\u2019re not stopping anybody from bringing a check in,&#8221; he told <strong>The Associated Press<\/strong>. &#8220;If you want to buy it, come in and we\u2019ll check you out. But nobody has.\u201d At the moment, the main obstacle standing in the way of a revived a big Straub payday\u00a0is Straub himself.<\/p>\n<p>* \u201cThese are actually more than just refreshing. These are brand new footprints,\u201d said <strong>Katherine Spilde<\/strong> of <strong>San Diego State University<\/strong>, in reference to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pe.com\/2017\/12\/17\/for-inland-tribes-expanding-their-casinos-seems-like-a-sure-bet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">an arms race<\/a> among SoCal tribal casinos. \u201cThe tribes are really responding to a mature tourist market.\u201d For instance, <strong>Pechanga Resort &amp; Casino<\/strong> has invested $285 million in a new hotel tower and a pool complex that will improve upon <!--more-->Pechanga&#8217;s teeny-tiny pool area. <strong>Pala Casino Spa &amp; Resort<\/strong> will see Pechanga its improved pool area and raise it a hotel expansion of its own. The\u00a0<strong>Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians<\/strong> is starting from scratch, replacing its casino tent with a six-story hotel and casino.\u00a0The <strong>Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians<\/strong> is evaluating its options in <strong>Palm Springs<\/strong>, while\u00a0the <strong>San Manuel Band of Mission Indians<\/strong> is adding an event center and hotel to its casino, a $550 million endeavor. The old bingo hall will be converted to hold\u00a0<strong>Gene Simmons\u2019 Rock &amp; Brews<\/strong> and <strong>George Lopez<\/strong>\u2019<strong>s<\/strong> <strong>Chingon Kitchen<\/strong>. <em>Bon appetit<\/em>!<\/p>\n<p>* Add <strong>Lawrence<\/strong> and <strong>Mercer<\/strong> counties in <strong>Pennsylvania<\/strong>\u00a0to the list of jurisdictions that are putting themselves in the running for &#8216;Category 4&#8217; satellite casinos.\u00a0Lawrence County Commissioner <strong>Dan Vogler<\/strong>\u00a0has been actively courting all of the Keystone State&#8217;s existing casinos, which can have first dibs on the new licenses on Jan. 10.\u00a0\u201cAs a county commissioner, obviously, as long as it comes to the county,&#8221; he tells a local TV station, &#8220;I\u2019m happy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Michigan<\/strong> lawmakers are <a href=\"http:\/\/ggbnews.com\/issue\/vol-15-no-100-december-18-2017\/article\/michigan-reviewing-online-gambling-sports-betting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">working to finesse legalese<\/a> that gambling must be conducted &#8220;in the casino&#8221; <em>in re<\/em> <strong>Internet<\/strong> gambling. The prevailing argument is that by locating the servers in properties like <strong>MotorCity Casino<\/strong> the constitutionality will be satisfied. However, &#8216;Net betting may require negotiation of numerous tribal compacts and be taxed in such a way that would bring Michigan&#8217;s effective rate down to 6% &#8212; the lowest in the nation. A true <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong> legend, Keely and <strong>Louis Prima<\/strong> were casino fixtures for many years. &#8220;Many believe Smith and Prima invented the Las Vegas lounge act, until recent times an entertainment staple of the <strong>Las Vegas Strip<\/strong>,&#8221; according to <em>Gaming Today<\/em>.
