The good news is that every casino had a revenue-positive month. <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-13411\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/MGM-National-Harbor-300x137.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"137\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/MGM-National-Harbor-300x137.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/MGM-National-Harbor-150x68.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/MGM-National-Harbor.jpg 606w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><strong>MGM National Harbor<\/strong>, of course, led the pack, grossing $59 million &#8212; yes, almost $2 million a day &#8212; for an 18% gain. Slot revenue averaged $344 in win\/slot\/day and tables had an average win of $5,323 per day. High-taxed slots contributed $30 million, low-taxed tables $29 million. Close behind at $48 million, <strong>Maryland Live<\/strong> shot up 15%, with $34 million from slots and $14.5 million from tables. (You can see why MGM&#8217;s business plan emphasizes maximizing table revenue.)<\/p>\n<p>In distant third place was <strong>Horseshoe Baltimore<\/strong>. The &#8216;Shoe grossed $23 million, a <!--more-->3% gain. By contrast, little <strong>Ocean Downs<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-10062\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Harrahs-Baltimore-rendering1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Harrahs-Baltimore-rendering1.jpg 280w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Harrahs-Baltimore-rendering1-150x96.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/>continues to be supercharged by the addition of table games. Her $7 million was a 30% increase from last year. <strong>Hollywood Perryville<\/strong> took in $6.5 million for a 4.5% uptick while, out in the boonies, <strong>Rocky Gap<\/strong> grossed $5 million, a 5% gain. As for National Harbor, what can we say? Those Washingtonians sure have money to burn. MGM, in the meantime, is &#8220;heartbroken&#8221; over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/public-safety\/two-people-hurt-after-an-electrical-shock-at-mgm-national-harbor\/2018\/06\/27\/619e4822-79eb-11e8-aeee-4d04c8ac6158_story.html?utm_term=.d862cb73a3db&amp;wpisrc=nl_sb_smartbrief&amp;wpisrc=nl_most&amp;wpmm=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">an electric accident<\/a> that sent a six-year-old girl into cardiac arrest, and injured two adults and one other child. The cause of the incident is under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Revenues in neighboring in <strong>West Virginia<\/strong> were flat with last year, which means at least that the state isn&#8217;t bleeding money to Maryland. <strong>Penn National Gaming<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Charles Town Races<\/strong> was down a bit, grossing 1% less at the slots and 2% fewer at the table.<\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0&#8220;Fresh-faced,&#8221; &#8220;sultry,&#8221; &#8220;sexier.&#8221; That&#8217;s how a lawsuit describes <strong>New York-New York<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Statue of Liberty<\/strong> replica. The statue&#8217;s sculptor, Vegas-based <strong>Robert Davidson<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcwashington.com\/news\/national-international\/Wrong-Lady-Liberty-on-Stamp-487384101.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">is suing<\/a> the <strong>U.S. Postal Service<\/strong> for its erroneous employment of his work on postage stamps instead of the original Statue of Liberty. If he wins his copyright-infringement lawsuit, the USPS will be $3.5 million the poorer. As you will recall, the USPS merrily sold the stamps for three months before realizing its mistake.<\/p>\n<p>* Add <strong>Stratosphere<\/strong> to the roster of <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong> casinos that have <a href=\"https:\/\/lasvegassun.com\/news\/2018\/jun\/27\/union-workers-reach-tentative-labor-deal-with-stra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reached terms<\/a> with <strong>Culinary Union<\/strong>. Bartenders, <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7096\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Strat-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Strat-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Strat-100x150.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Strat.jpeg 240w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>housekeepers, cocktail and food waiters, cooks and other kitchen workers have been working without a contract since May 31. Salary increases and alert buttons for workers are included in the pact, which is awaiting a vote by the Strat&#8217;s 1,000-odd workforce. Next up: <strong>Westgate Las Vegas<\/strong>\u00a0and the <strong>Tropicana<\/strong>, which will give Penn National its first taste of Sin City labor negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>*Don&#8217;t look now, private-sector casinos, but here come the tribes. Native American gaming brought in nearly $32.5 billion last year, an increase of 4% for America&#8217;s 494 tribal-gaming facilities. And how could they not, as tribal casinos continue to become more competitive with Las Vegas and <strong>Atlantic City<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelpulse.com\/news\/hotels-and-resorts\/pechanga-resort-casino-unveils-300-million-expansion.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">Case in point<\/a>: <strong>Pechanga Resort Casino<\/strong>, which just invested $300 million in an expansion that includes 568 new hotel rooms. Also new are a 4.5 acre pool complex, a full-service spa and an event center. The new <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-16327\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Pechanga-300x131.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"131\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Pechanga-300x131.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Pechanga-150x66.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Pechanga.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>rooms offer HDTV sets as big as 65 inches, HDMI cabling, eight USB ports, <strong>Keurig<\/strong> coffee makers and, in select rooms, &#8220;a personal patio enveloped by lush foliage.&#8221; The cherry on the sundae is a Zen roof populated with indigenous plants and Native American sculptures.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re of a masochistic disposition you can up for early morning boot camp, or opt for yoga. The new pool area features &#8220;four pools, three spas, 27 private cabanas, six water-skimming day beds and two waterslides.&#8221; It&#8217;s got both an 18-seat bar and a swim-up bar, if you don&#8217;t want to interrupt your dip. Sounds like a great place.
