Actually you can&#8217;t, thanks to a new &#8220;Dignity Decree&#8221; that was the first priority of Prime Minister <strong>Giuseppe Conte<\/strong>&#8216;s right-wing government. The provocation was a <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-22270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Italy.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Italy.png 275w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Italy-150x100.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 275px) 100vw, 275px\" \/>proliferation of gaming advertising during <strong>Italy<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>World Cup<\/strong> games.\u00a0As a result, you can&#8217;t advertise gambling anywhere in Italy anymore.\u00a0\u00a0It&#8217;s like the anti-<strong>DFS<\/strong> backlash in the U.S. only far worse. And it didn&#8217;t just make waves in Italy. In <strong>England<\/strong>, gambling concerns ran nearly 90 minutes of advertising during World Cup matches, 17% of the total. (Number of ad spots: 172)<\/p>\n<p>Reports <em>The Guardian<\/em>, &#8220;Bookmakers and online casino companies enjoyed one and a half times as much screen time as alcohol firms and almost four times that of fast food outlets.&#8221; Only automobile ads even came close to <!--more-->that frequency. Curbs on gambling ads in <strong>Great Britain<\/strong> have been discussed before in parliament and it looks as though the issue <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2018\/jul\/15\/children-bombarded-with-betting-adverts-during-world-cup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">will rear its head again<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cOne of the only downsides to this brilliant World Cup has been the bombardment of gambling <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-22271\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Union-Jack.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"255\" height=\"128\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Union-Jack.png 255w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Union-Jack-150x75.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 255px) 100vw, 255px\" \/>advertising on TV and social media that thousands of children will have been exposed to,\u201d\u00a0huffed\u00a0<strong>Labour Party<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Tom Watson<\/strong>. His party proposes a tax on the gaming industry to pay for the study of disordered gambling. Imagine how riled up they&#8217;ll get next season when nearly half of Premier League footballers and the vast majority of Championship League ones <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/sport\/football\/premier-league\/football-betting-premier-league-epl-football-league-efl-sponsors-kits-201819-a8470936.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">flaunt gambling logos<\/a> on the front of their jerseys.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Australia<\/strong> has already gone farther than the mother country, banning gambling ads during sporting events. Back in England, complaints to the <strong>Advertising Standards Authority<\/strong> shot through the roof: 115 were logged, compared to 27 the previous month. Gaming&#8217;s got as much right as anyone to flog its product, but there&#8217;s a reasonable amount of advertising and then there&#8217;s just plain asking for trouble.<\/p>\n<p>As a sports fan myself, I always feel somewhat insulted when the <strong>American Gaming Association<\/strong> says that legalized sports betting will raise the level of viewer engagement. Trust me, when I lived and died with every pitch of the 2002 <strong>World Series<\/strong> champion <strong>Anaheim Angels<\/strong>, it wouldn&#8217;t have changed my <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-22274\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/MLB.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"181\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/MLB.png 225w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/MLB-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 181px) 100vw, 181px\" \/>sentiments if I had money riding on the games. But the AGA has now trotted out a study <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americangaming.org\/sites\/default\/files\/AGA%20Nielsen%20Two%20Sheet%208.3.18.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">that backs up<\/a> its contention. We can blame Millennials making $100,000 or more for the outcome. &#8220;Expanding access to legal sports betting will bring millennial audiences back to sports broadcasts and stadiums, which is a huge benefit for sport enterprises across the country,&#8221; says the AGA&#8217;s <strong>Sara Slane<\/strong>. Must everything be tailored to the douchey Millennial demographic now? (Can you tell that I just turned a year older today?)<\/p>\n<p>* &#8220;Although one wouldn&#8217;t know it from looking at the stock charts, regional gaming operators delivered solid 2Q18 results and provided a handful of favorable data points related to the <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-17861\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/paradice_exterior_official-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/paradice_exterior_official-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/paradice_exterior_official-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/paradice_exterior_official.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>outlook for the business. Despite the timing of July 4th and an unfavorable weekend calendar in July, [gross gaming revenue] is tracking at roughly flat y\/y for the month,&#8221; reports <strong>Deutsche Bank<\/strong> gaming analyst <strong>Carlo Santarelli<\/strong>. He blames the flattened revenue on heightened promotional activities by the casinos (translation: more comps for us). He says he remains &#8220;confident in the overall health of the regional gaming consumer&#8221; and concludes by saying he continues to like <strong>Boyd Gaming<\/strong>, <strong>Eldorado Resorts<\/strong>, <strong>Penn National Gaming<\/strong> and <strong>Station Casinos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>* It&#8217;s a good thing regional casinos are so robust because if I were a <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong> gaming executive I&#8217;d be keeping a nervous eye on <strong>Lake Mead<\/strong>. The <strong>Bureau of Reclamation<\/strong> says the lake is on pace <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4737\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/las-vegas-hoover-dam-300x240.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/las-vegas-hoover-dam-300x240.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/las-vegas-hoover-dam-150x120.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/las-vegas-hoover-dam.jpg 415w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>to fall below the crisis mark of 1,075 feet in 2020. When that happens, a water-shortage declaration goes into effect. <strong>Business for Water Stewardship<\/strong> CEO <strong>Todd Reeve<\/strong> told the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> that &#8220;if a water shortage is declared, that would be a huge shot across the bow that, wow, water supplies could be uncertain.\u201d (A good thing that the enormous lagoon at <strong>Paradise Park<\/strong> has been put on hold.) The story focuses more on ramifications for farmers in <strong>Arizona<\/strong> but don&#8217;t think Nevadans wouldn&#8217;t have to make sacrifices.<\/p>\n<p>* The <strong>Mechoopda Indian Tribe of the Chico Rancheria<\/strong> could bring a Class III casino to an area near <strong>Chico<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/news.worldcasinodirectory.com\/california-tribe-inks-gaming-compact-for-butte-county-casino-57543\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">now that it has compacted<\/a> with <strong>California<\/strong> Gov. <strong>Jerry Brown<\/strong>. The casino could have a maximum of 2,000 slots plus table games. The compact still needs ratification from the Legislature and some in <strong>Butte County<\/strong> could fight it tooth and nail in the Lege. The tribe&#8217;s fight for recognition went all the way to the <strong>United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit<\/strong>.
