According to <strong>CasinoBeats.com<\/strong>, &#8220;An immediate donation of 30,000 containers of soap, shampoo, shower gel, body lotion and conditioner are available for distribution to victims, emanating from the <strong>Seminole Hard Rock Hotels &amp; Casinos<\/strong> in <strong>Tampa<\/strong> and <strong>Hollywood<\/strong>, plus the <strong>Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee<\/strong>, located east of <strong>Naples<\/strong>.&#8221; Nor is this a one-shot deal. Hard Rock has <!--more-->signed on with Clean the World to continue the latter&#8217;s mission of helping devastated areas, especially in the Third World.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a socially responsible hotel and casino company, we are committed to improving the lives of others and protecting the planet. Recycling hotel soap and other in-room amenities is the right thing to do,\u201d said Seminole Gaming Senior Vice President of Purchasing <strong>Tracy Bradford<\/strong>. Said Executive Director <strong>Michelle Carrera<\/strong>, \u201cToday we support about 1,900 youth a year. This center will not only help about 400 more kids, but it will expand our services to provide them with the skills and tools necessary to break the cycle of poverty,\u201d thanking MGM by name. And why not? The company has put the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs 25% of the way toward its $2 million fundraising goal. STEM education and SAT preparation will be among the classes offered by the school, when complete.<\/p>\n<p>Closer to home, MGM is new launching a new program to conserve water at <strong>Bellagio<\/strong>. The technology is being provided by <strong>Apana<\/strong>.\u00a0\u201cIt compliments MGM\u2019s recognized energy data analytics platform so that we can identify critical areas of water conservation by turning <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4388\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Bellagio-300-02-285x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"285\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Bellagio-300-02-285x300.jpg 285w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Bellagio-300-02-142x150.jpg 142w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Bellagio-300-02.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 285px) 100vw, 285px\" \/>data into meaningful actions,\u201d said Vice President of Sustainable Facilities <strong>Chris Magee<\/strong>. The <strong>Southern Nevada Water Authority<\/strong> played matchmaker between Apana and MGM. Said SNWA&#8217;s <strong>John Entsminger<\/strong>,\u00a0\u201cWhile the resort sector is among the most water-efficient industries in Southern <strong>Nevada<\/strong>\u2014consuming only three percent of our water supply while employing 22 percent of our local workforce\u2014we are asking all sectors of our community to do more to conserve water.\u201d Kudos to MGM for doing its part.<\/p>\n<p>* None of the bars mentioned <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotelsmag.com\/Industry\/News\/Details\/82083\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in this survey<\/a> are casino-based. That&#8217;s an area in which the industry could do some remedial work. F&amp;B executive <strong>Tobias Peach<\/strong> is a man after my own heart: &#8220;Sure, you have to be prepared for and accommodate the tired hotel guest who has been traveling all day and just wants their dirty martini. In that case, we just make them the best one they have ever had.\u201d Mix one for me, please.<\/p>\n<p>* Atlantic City got a different sort of boost from its sports books, <a href=\"https:\/\/lasvegassun.com\/news\/2018\/oct\/12\/new-jersey-plans-to-reveal-stunning-sports-betting\/?_ga=2.84847385.1426771789.1539610482-1890692149.1527085026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">which saw revenues leap sequentially<\/a>, concurrent with the start of <strong>NFL<\/strong> season. They went from a $96 million handle in August to $184 million in September. One can only speculate how large the number will be when all casinos in the city have sports books, not just six gambling houses. <strong>Internet<\/strong> gambling, meanwhile, jumped 26% to $26 million. The revenue wasn&#8217;t confined to the Boardwalk, either: The <strong>Meadowlands<\/strong> grossed $7 million and <strong>Monmouth Park<\/strong> $2 million.<\/p>\n<p>* Former footballer and full-time asshat <strong>Terrell Owens<\/strong> joined <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> CEO <strong>Mark Frissora<\/strong> to open <strong>The Linq<\/strong>&#8216;s new race and sports book, called (strangely enough) <strong>The Book<\/strong>.
