The ribbon is cut at 9 a.m. and several bus services <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ggrasia.com\/another-bus-biz-details-macau-casino-link-via-hkzm-bridge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">are at the ready<\/a> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-17045\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Venetian-Macao-300x190.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Venetian-Macao-300x190.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Venetian-Macao-150x95.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Venetian-Macao.jpg 625w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>to make the half-hour run, compared to the hour it takes to ferry to the gambling capitol from Hong Kong. Ironically, the ceremonial first bus will leave <em>from<\/em> Macao, specifically from <strong>Hotel Grand Lisboa<\/strong>, in a nod to former casino monopolist <strong>Sociedade de Jogos de Macau<\/strong>. Peninsula casinos to enjoy bus service include <strong>MGM Macau<\/strong>, <strong>StarWorld Hotel<\/strong> (<strong>Galaxy Entertainment<\/strong>) and <strong>Sands Macao<\/strong>. Primary stops on the <strong>Cotai Strip\u2122<\/strong> will be <strong>Venetian Macao<\/strong>, <strong>Galaxy Macau<\/strong> and <strong>MGM Cotai<\/strong>, which could use some extra business. Casino shuttles will not be allowed on the new bridge. Rather, city hall is trying to get the enclave&#8217;s six concessionaires to consolidate and cooperatively run shuttle serves. Good luck with that.<\/p>\n<p>* Unlike some other regional markets, <strong>Louisiana<\/strong> eked out a gain last month, up 2%. This was done largely on the strength of <!--more-->the <strong>Lake Charles<\/strong> market (up 17%) and in spite of the continuing <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-15468\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/GoldenNugget-Lake-Charles.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/GoldenNugget-Lake-Charles.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/GoldenNugget-Lake-Charles-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>disintegration of the <strong>Baton Rouge<\/strong> one. Gaining 25%, <strong>Golden Nugget Lake Charles<\/strong> ($28 million) roared past traditional leader <strong>L&#8217;Auberge du Lac<\/strong>, which had $24.5 million for a 15% gain. <strong>Delta Downs<\/strong> was up almost 20%, to $15 million, while <strong>Isle Grand Palais<\/strong> slipped 6% to $8 million.<\/p>\n<p>By contrast, in Baton Rouge, <strong>L&#8217;Auberge Baton Rouge<\/strong> did best by declining least: 16% to $11 million. <strong>Gaming &amp; Leisure Properties<\/strong>&#8216; <strong>Casino Rouge<\/strong> plunged 21% to $4 million and <strong>Eldorado Resorts<\/strong>&#8216; <strong>Belle of Baton Rouge<\/strong> fell screaming 33% to a measly $3 million. The <strong>New Orleans<\/strong> market was comparatively stable, led by <strong>Harrah&#8217;s New Orleans<\/strong>, grossing $23.5 million despite a 5.5% dip. Next best was <strong>Boomtown New Orleans<\/strong>, up 4.5% to $10 million, while <strong>Treasure Chest<\/strong> parlayed a 6% decline into an $8.5 million gross. <strong>Boyd Gaming<\/strong> had a better month at <strong>Amelia Belle<\/strong>, up 3.5% to $3.5 million. <strong>Churchill Downs<\/strong> was not so lucky at <strong>Fair Grounds<\/strong>, down 4% to $3 million.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Horseshoe Bossier City<\/strong> ($16 million, -1%) and <strong>Margaritaville<\/strong> ($14 million, +9%) continue to fight it out for dominance of the <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16112\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Horseshoe-Bossier.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"192\" height=\"262\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Horseshoe-Bossier.jpg 192w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Horseshoe-Bossier-110x150.jpg 110w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 192px) 100vw, 192px\" \/><strong>Shreveport<\/strong> area. <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> did better at Horseshoe than at <strong>Harrah&#8217;s Louisiana Downs<\/strong>, down 6% to $3.5 million, while <strong>Sam&#8217;s Town Shreveport<\/strong> slid 5% to $6 million.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Pinnacle Entertainment<\/strong> bowed out meekly at <strong>Boomtown Bossier City<\/strong>, falling 11% to $4.5 million. <strong>Eldorado Shreveport<\/strong> was up 5% to almost $10 million but customers fled <strong>Diamond Jack&#8217;s<\/strong>, which fell 11.5% to below $3 million. It doesn&#8217;t want to be there and the sentiment seems to be mutual with patrons.<\/p>\n<p>* Given the relative paucity of <strong>Baltimore Ravens<\/strong> home games, proximity of <strong>Horseshoe Baltimore<\/strong> to the team&#8217;s stadium has been a mixed blessing. However, Caesars is putting the <a href=\"https:\/\/calvinayre.com\/2018\/10\/19\/casino\/horseshoe-casino-baltimore-partnership-nfl-ravens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">best possible face<\/a> on the situation. It has inked a pact whereby &#8212; among other things &#8212; the Ravens logo will be spatchcocked all over the casino. In return, Horseshoe is promised &#8220;ample visibility&#8221; at\u00a0<strong>M&amp;T Bank Stadium<\/strong>. The move is seen as a much-needed boost for the struggling Horseshoe and harbinger of many such partnerships to come. After all, with <strong>Rivers Casino<\/strong> in <strong>Pittsburgh<\/strong> hard by <strong>Heinz Field<\/strong>, how long could it be before the <strong>Pittsburgh Steelers<\/strong> and <strong>Rush Street Gaming<\/strong> team up?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Beginning tomorrow, travel to Macao becomes much easier, as the Zhuhai bridge connecting Hong Kong and Macao officially opens.
