Pity poor Rockstar: The Tribute<\/em>. It briefly played Planet Hollywood<\/strong>‘s Wyrick Entertainment Complex<\/strong> last June, then got the boot. An announced revival at the Harmon Theater<\/strong> never materialized. A late-2009 move to the Riviera<\/strong> was ballyhooed. Guess what? Rockstar<\/em> never opened, quickly supplanted by a rival tribute show, Masters of Rock<\/em><\/a>. So it was back to the Harmon. Or maybe not. Today, LVA<\/em> received the following e-mail from an undoubtedly long-suffering Rockstar<\/em> promoter:<\/p>\n

“I want to thank you very much for assisting me with the promotion and sales for<\/em> Rockstar: The Tribute, however I have just been informed that due to some structural re-formation the show has been postponed until further notice<\/em>.<\/div>\n
“I do hope and look forward to working with you in the near future. As soon as there is a set date for the show to re-open I will be in contact with you and do hope that you will concider<\/em> [sic] working with us again. Thank you again for all of your efforts and I am truely<\/em> [sic] sorry for any and all inconvenience this has caused<\/em>.”<\/div>\n
It’s no inconvenience to us, but sympathy accrues to anyone whose wagon was hitched to the chimera that is Rockstar<\/em>. If this vagabond show ever<\/em> opens on the Strip, it’ll be front-page news.<\/div>\n

\u2022 Having taken the better part<\/strong> of a year to review the tip-confiscation controversy at Wynn Resorts<\/strong>, Labor Commissioner Michael Tanchek<\/strong> now threatens to delay his oft-postponed ruling into May. Don’t blame him but a passel of Wynn attorneys who just sandbagged him<\/a> with a new set of legal briefs. If this decision comes down in our lifetimes, it better be earth-shaking in ramifications.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Mid-March room rates<\/strong> on the Strip look good for (almost) every major player. Wynn is flat but MGM Mirage<\/strong> (11%) and Las Vegas Sands<\/strong> (7%) are up in the March 7-13 period. The laggard is Harrah’s Entertainment<\/strong>, off a whopping 24%.
