There&#8217;s no shame in that &#8212; it simply gives <em>S&amp;G<\/em> the opportunity to remind Sands that we called &#8220;B.S.&#8221; on departed COO <strong>William Weidner<\/strong>&#8216;s claims that the Indian subcontinent was a target market for <strong>Macao<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>So where was $5.4 billion MBS (now expected to miss yet another deadline for opening) supposed to get its clientele? <strong>Afghanistan<\/strong>? <strong>Mozambique<\/strong>? <strong>Tasmania<\/strong>? Meanwhile, not only is <strong>Resorts World Sentosa<\/strong> eating Sands&#8217; lunch, <strong>Genting Bhd<\/strong> Chairman <strong>Lim Kok Thay<\/strong> is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/02\/14\/AR2010021400937.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">rubbing Sheldon&#8217;s face in it<\/a> by projecting a Genting foray into American markets. His wish list consists of &#8220;existing resorts that [are] down on their luck.&#8221; The line forms to the right &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is Utah next?<\/strong> Speaking of feeder markets, <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.honoluluadvertiser.com\/article\/20100214\/NEWS01\/2140380\/Hawaii+lawmaker+again+debating+legal+gambling\" target=\"_blank\">now needs to worry about one of its crucial arteries<\/a>: <strong>Hawaii<\/strong>. While the news out of the Aloha State isn&#8217;t as bad &#8212; especially for <strong>Boyd Gaming<\/strong> &#8212; as it first appears, if budgetary worries are weaking Mormon-thick Hawaii&#8217;s once-ironclad opposition to casinos, that would imperil one of Vegas&#8217; most reliable and loyal customer bases. And if Hawaii falls, how much longer can <strong>Utah<\/strong>&#8216;s hidebound anti-gambling stance hold fast? <em>S&amp;G<\/em> doesn&#8217;t begrudge entrepreneurs from pursuing gaming ventures in either state but LDS prudishness has been one of Las Vegas&#8217; (and <strong>Wendover<\/strong>&#8216;s) best friends.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Foxwoods giveth<\/strong>, Foxwoods robs you blind. In return for giving raises to some employees, <strong>Foxwoods Resort Casino<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theday.com\/article\/20100216\/BIZ02\/302169918\/1044\" target=\"_blank\">is screwing most everyone<\/a>, halting 401(k) matches. Casino management says the matching contributions will be restored &#8220;<em>when the market improves within 12 months<\/em>.&#8221; Wow, that&#8217;s some nice crystal ball Foxwoods has.
