How to account for the slippage? True, the drive-in driven <strong>Shreveport<\/strong>\/<strong>Bossier City<\/strong> market was off 1.5%. But the real culprit was <strong>Baton Rouge<\/strong>, toppling 15.5% and ravaged by the new smoking ban. Even market leader <strong>L&#8217;Auberge Baton Rouge<\/strong> was down 11% to <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7958\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Louisiana_Flag-300x193.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"193\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Louisiana_Flag-300x193.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Louisiana_Flag-150x96.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Louisiana_Flag.jpg 448w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>$12 million. <strong>Casino Rouge<\/strong> fell 9% to $4.5 million and <strong>Eldorado Resorts<\/strong> had a disastrous month at <strong>Belle of Baton Rouge<\/strong>, careening 39% to a meagre $2.5 million. Can they even keep the doors open at that rate. In Shreveport\/Bossier City, <strong>Penn National Gaming<\/strong> made an inauspicious debut at <strong>Margaritaville<\/strong>, slipping 6% to $13.5 million, <strong>Eldorado<\/strong> was flat at $10 million and <strong>Horseshoe Bossier<\/strong> climbed 1% to $18 million. <strong>Sam&#8217;s Town<\/strong> grew 7% to $4.5 million, <strong>Harrah&#8217;s Louisiana Downs<\/strong> hopped 2% to $4 million while <strong>Boomtown Bossier<\/strong> was up 4% to $5 million. <strong>Diamond Jack&#8217;s<\/strong> wants to leave Shreveport and the market reciprocated the sentiment, as manifested in a 17% plummet to $3 million.<\/p>\n<p>At least the unlikely resort town of <strong>Lake Charles<\/strong> could be counted upon for good news, right? Not entirely. Penn struggled at <strong>L&#8217;Auberge du Lac<\/strong>, down 11% to &#8216;only&#8217; $28 million. <strong>Golden Nugget<\/strong> continues to enjoy hard-won primacy, <!--more-->at $29 million, shrugging off a 1.5%. <strong>Isle Grand Palais<\/strong> spiraled -17.5% to $9 million. Only <strong>Boyd Gaming<\/strong> had a revenue-positive month in the area, up 2.5% at <strong>Delta Downs<\/strong> to finish in the money with $16 million. Boyd also enjoyed upward months at <strong>Amelia Belle<\/strong>, vaulting 18% to $4 million, and <strong>Evangeline Downs<\/strong>, up 2% to $7 million. In <strong>New Orleans<\/strong>, it grew 5% at <strong>Treasure Chest<\/strong>, for a $9 million finish, while Penn&#8217;s nearby Boomtown New Orleans jumped 6% to $10 million. The market leader, of course, was Harrah&#8217;s New Orleans, with $27.5 million, up 8%. Fair Grounds racino brought up the rear with $3.5 million, a 5% uptick.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Sands China<\/strong> posted 16% growth in mass-market play and 3% more in VIP action last quarter, moving <strong>JP Morgan<\/strong>\u00a0analyst <strong>Joseph Greff<\/strong> to raise his cash flow projection for <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2304\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Venetian-Macao-Hotel-and-Convention-Center-300x210.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Venetian-Macao-Hotel-and-Convention-Center-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Venetian-Macao-Hotel-and-Convention-Center-150x105.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Venetian-Macao-Hotel-and-Convention-Center.jpg 437w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><strong>Macao<\/strong> from $797 million to $823 million. His forecast for the mass-market-driven Sands properties was sunnier &#8212; 13% for mass-market tables, 5% for slots, and 32% growth in VIP play &#8212; than for the rest of the market by a sizable. Although LVS trades at a $57.70\/share, Greff tweaked the price target up to $60\/share. In good news for the enclave (and Sands), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ggrasia.com\/repeat-visit-data-opens-new-doors-for-macau-scholars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">repeat visitation grew last year<\/a>. The numbers were similar to those posted in 2017, when Macao began tracking such data. Increased visitation from the <strong>United States<\/strong> helped make for declines from <strong>Vietnam<\/strong>, <strong>Thailand<\/strong> and <strong>Indonesia<\/strong>. Only 9% self-identified as gamblers (I wonder about that), with most citing shopping and dining as the main Macanese attractions. And yet &#8230;\u00a0\u201cCasino operators could focus their marketing and management work more on non-gaming activities such as introducing more shops and restaurants to attract more visitors to their hotels,\u201d said\u00a0IFT Tourism Research Centre Director <strong>Leonardo\u00a0Dioko<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0In other Macao-related news, <strong>Wynn Macau<\/strong> won a $4 million judgment in a <strong>Malaysia<\/strong> court room against a fund manager who had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-wynn-macau-malaysia\/malaysia-court-rules-in-favor-of-wynn-macau-in-4-2-million-case-lawyer-idUSKCN1PD05J\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stiffed the casino on a credit agreement<\/a>. <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8221\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Wynn-Macau-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"194\" height=\"143\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Wynn-Macau-2.jpg 194w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Wynn-Macau-2-150x110.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 194px) 100vw, 194px\" \/>This is the first time <strong>Kuala Lumpur<\/strong> has enforced a gambling debt. What made this case different was that <strong>Wynn Resorts<\/strong> had not entered into a wagering contract (unenforceable).\u00a0<strong>Paul Poh Yang Hong<\/strong>&#8216;s defense was literally &#8216;I forgot.&#8217; Now if you or I got taken to the cleaners by Wynn for four million smackers, I think that&#8217;s something that would stick rather painfully in our memory. Hong was not so amnesia-stricken that he didn&#8217;t pay several hundred thousand dollars to Wynn before defaulting on the balance.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Parx Casino<\/strong> owner <strong>Greenwood Racing &amp; Entertainment<\/strong> has brought its sports-betting operation to urban <strong>Philadelphia<\/strong>, its <strong>South Philadelphia Turf Club<\/strong> OTB having been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.igamingbusiness.com\/news\/south-philadelphia-turf-club-launches-kambi-sportsbook\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">green-lit for a sports book<\/a>. Parx itself only rolled out sports betting last week. Both will be operated by <strong>Kambi<\/strong>, which is establishing Keystone State hegemony, also running books at <strong>Rivers Casino<\/strong>, <strong>SugarHouse<\/strong> and (still in the planning stages) <strong>Valley Forge Turf Club<\/strong>. The only non-Kambi book in the Keystone State is the <strong>William Hill<\/strong> one at Penn National&#8217;s eponymous race course and casino.
