It&#8217;s difficult to account for the 3% dip in Lake Charles, aside from the fact that <strong>Golden <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-15468\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/GoldenNugget-Lake-Charles.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/GoldenNugget-Lake-Charles.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/GoldenNugget-Lake-Charles-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Nugget<\/strong> had a bad month, declining 12% to $22 million. <strong>L&#8217;Auberge Lake Charles<\/strong>\u00a0shot past it, grossing $24 million, a 6% increase. <strong>Isle Grand Palais<\/strong> was down 10.5% to $7.5 million while <strong>Delta Downs<\/strong> cantered 3.5% faster to $14.5 million. The Baton Rouge problem is no mystery: the smoking ban. <strong>Gaming &amp; Leisure Properties<\/strong>&#8216; <strong>Casino Rouge<\/strong> seems to have fallen as far as it can: flat at $4.5 million. <strong>Belle of Baton Rouge<\/strong> careened 39% down to $2.5 million, raising existential questions about its ability to continue as a going concern, while <strong>L&#8217;Auberge Baton Rouge<\/strong> plummeted 13% to $10.5 million.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Harrah&#8217;s New Orleans<\/strong> showed impressive growth, rising <!--more-->11.5% to $23 million. Mopping up were <strong>Penn National Gaming<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Boomtown New Orleans<\/strong>, up 6.5% to $9.5 million, Boyd&#8217;s <strong>Treasure Chest<\/strong> ($8 million, +2%) and <strong>Amelia <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-18544\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/amelia-belle-300x187.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/amelia-belle-300x187.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/amelia-belle-150x93.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/amelia-belle.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Belle<\/strong> ($3.5 million, +5%), and <strong>Churchill Downs<\/strong>&#8216; <strong>Fair Grounds<\/strong> racino ($3.5 million, +5%). Happily, no one was revenue-negative. In the Shreveport\/<strong>Bossier City<\/strong> area, Penn&#8217;s newest asset, <strong>Margaritaville<\/strong>, continues to give <strong>Horseshoe Bossier City<\/strong> stiff competition. (How ironic that Margaritaville is a <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong> brand in <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong> and almost was one in <strong>Biloxi<\/strong>.) Horseshoe grossed $13 million, up 6.5%, while Margaritaville was just over $12 million, a 10.5% gain. Penn&#8217;s <strong>Boomtown Bossier<\/strong> was up 10%, for a $4 million gross while <strong>Eldorado Shreveport<\/strong> slipped 2.5% to $8 million. Harrah&#8217;s <strong>Louisiana Downs<\/strong> was up 4% to $3.5 million while <strong>Sam&#8217;s Town Shreveport<\/strong> gained 3% to pass $5 million. <strong>Diamond Jack&#8217;s<\/strong> wants to be rid of Shreveport and customers returned the sentiment. Business was down 12% for a $2.5 million gross.<\/p>\n<p>* Paving the way to sanction <strong>Wynn Resorts<\/strong>, the <strong>Massachusetts Gaming Commission<\/strong> has voted to settle <strong>Steve Wynn<\/strong>&#8216;s lawsuit against the MGC. The latter <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2854\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Wynn-laughs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Wynn-laughs.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Wynn-laughs-111x150.jpg 111w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>tried to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonherald.com\/2019\/02\/20\/mass-gaming-commission-votes-wynn-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">spin this cave-in as a win<\/a>, saying that it would &#8220;receive an investigative report and move forward,\u201d that the settlement permits \u201ca robust, public review of its investigatory findings.\u201d MGC members huddled with their legal team for five hours before waving the surrender flag. (Presumably minus the sensitive bits Steve Wynn wanted redacted.) Wynn Resorts, a co-defendant in the lawsuit, can now brace itself for whatever fine it has to pay in order to get <strong>Encore Boston Harbor<\/strong> up and running.<\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0Bucking the Trump administration&#8217;s interpretation of the <strong>Federal Wire Act<\/strong>, lawmakers have voted an <strong>Internet<\/strong>-gambling bill out of <strong>West Virginia<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>House Judiciary Committee<\/strong>. Although the bill has bipartisan support it has to beat the clock, as the Lege adjourns on March 9. Under the proposed enabling legislation, the <strong>West Virginia Lottery<\/strong> would administer the online industry, issuing licenses at $250,000 a pop. The tax on revenue was initially set at\u00a010%, then pushed to 15%, although some lawmakers wanted\u00a035%. Delegate <strong>Tom Fast<\/strong> (R) had the sauce to call the 35% rate a &#8220;bare-bones minimum.&#8221; Delegate <strong>Shawn Fluharty<\/strong> (D) responded that &#8220;the intent here is not about raising a tax that doesn\u2019t exist.\u00a0This would have the effect of killing the legislation if we went to a 35%\u00a0tax rate.\u201d A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlinepokerreport.com\/35351\/wv-online-gambling-bill-house-judiciary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">moral-turpitude clause inserted into the bill<\/a> would have the effect of keeping <strong>PokerStars<\/strong> and similar miscreants out of the state.
