(<strong>Utah<\/strong> is the least, while the Silver State is followed by <strong>South Dakota<\/strong>, <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-20851\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Roulette-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Roulette-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Roulette-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Roulette.jpg 455w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><strong>Montana<\/strong>, <strong>Mississippi<\/strong> and <strong>Oregon<\/strong>.) Casino-rich\u00a0<strong>Florida<\/strong> was an incredibly surprising #49, all the more so since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-admin\/post-new.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">most of the states at the bottom of the list<\/a> were characterized by a paucity or complete absence of casinos, scarcely the case in the Sunshine State. \u00a0Nevada is tied with <strong>Oklahoma<\/strong> and South Dakota for more casinos per capita, leads the nation in casinos per capita (<strong>Virginia<\/strong> is at the bottom of these lists but that will change soon) but is passed by Mississippi, <strong>Minnesota<\/strong>, <strong>Kansas<\/strong> and <strong>New Jersey<\/strong> for percentage of adults with a gambling disorder.<\/p>\n<p>In other findings, <strong>Rhode Island<\/strong> (#20 overall), <strong>Massachusetts<\/strong> (#26), <strong>Delaware<\/strong> (#15), <strong>Maryland<\/strong> (#19) and <strong>West Virginia<\/strong>\u00a0(#6) all lead the nation in <!--more-->lottery sales, tied for #1. The states with lowest percentage of gambling addicts were <strong>Michigan<\/strong> (5), <strong>Kentucky<\/strong>, Florida and <strong>Connecticut<\/strong> (all at #47), <strong>New York<\/strong> and <strong>New Mexico<\/strong> (both #43). <strong>Illinois<\/strong> and gambling-sparse <strong>Hawaii<\/strong> lead the nation in gambling-related arrests, along with Mississippi. Casino-free <strong>Tennessee<\/strong> is fourth and Maryland is already fifth. If you want to get away from casino-related crime, move to <strong>Washington State<\/strong>, <strong>Vermont<\/strong>, Oregon, New Mexico, <strong>Nebraska<\/strong> or Kansas, the latter a surprise contender because of its robust gaming industry. Finally, while Nevada is first in problem gambling, it is only 11th in treatment. We can do better than that.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Pennsylvania<\/strong> casinos should brace for impact: Slot routes at truck stops (43 to start) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.casinogamespro.com\/2019\/04\/22\/pennsylvania-proceeds-with-gambling-expansion-by-providing-conditional-approval-to-43-truck-stop-locations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">will go live soon<\/a>. That means you can stop at the <strong>Tic Toc Food Mart<\/strong> in <strong>Hermitage<\/strong> and gamble anytime your heart desires. <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-12413\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Slot-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Slot-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Slot-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Slot.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The conditions of qualifying for five slots are you &#8220;must be situated on at least three acres of land, must be a <strong>Pennsylvania Lottery<\/strong> sales agent, must have a convenience store, must have no less than 20 parking spaces for commercial motor vehicles and must have diesel islands for refueling such vehicles.&#8221; That&#8217;s good news for the Lottery, not so much for the casinos, whose owners have seen the deleterious effects of slot routes in Illinois. We hope Pennsylvania lawmakers know what they&#8217;re doing but they&#8217;ve been adding gambling capacity at a fairly reckless rate.<\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0Trade hostilities between the <strong>U.S.<\/strong> and <strong>China<\/strong> have claimed some collateral damage in the form of high roller reluctance to travel. This is especially true in<strong> Australia<\/strong>, where a recovery is predicted to be &#8220;a few short months away.&#8221; <strong>Macquarie Wealth Management<\/strong> analysts write that &#8220;with our view that <strong>Macau<\/strong> VIP bottoms in the June 2019 quarter, we are optimistic and now forecast a recovery.\u201d That&#8217;s music to the ears of companies like <strong>Star Entertainment<\/strong>, whose <strong>Sydney<\/strong>\u00a0casino saw a 49% drop in high-roller play. <strong>Crown Resorts<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/calvinayre.com\/2019\/04\/22\/casino\/australia-to-see-resurgence-in-foreign-high-rollers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fared better<\/a> but still saw a 12% decline over a six-month period.
