People flocked to the racinos, which vaulted 13%. <strong>Hollywood Columbus<\/strong> gained 2% to $19 million and <strong>Hollywood Toledo<\/strong> inched 1% to <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-14521\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Hard-Rock-Rocksino-300x151.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Hard-Rock-Rocksino-300x151.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Hard-Rock-Rocksino-150x75.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Hard-Rock-Rocksino.jpg 316w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>almost $18 million. As for the tracks, <strong>Hollywood Dayton<\/strong> gained 13% for $9.9 million while <strong>Hollywood Mahoning Valley<\/strong> rocketed 18% upward to $11 million. <strong>Boyd Gaming<\/strong> was up 9.5% at <strong>Belterra Park<\/strong> ($8 million) and <strong>Eldorado Resorts<\/strong> hopped 12% ($17 million) at <strong>Scioto Downs<\/strong>. At erstwhile <strong>Hard Rock Rocksino<\/strong>, now <strong>MGM Northfield<\/strong>, $22 million was grossed on a 9% increase. <strong>Churchill Downs<\/strong> was 15% higher at <strong>Miami Valley Gaming<\/strong>, grossing $15.5 million. <strong>Jack Thistledown<\/strong> galloped 17% ahead to $13 million. In the major cities, <strong>Jack Cleveland<\/strong> pulled in 15% ($18 million) and <strong>Jack Cincinnati<\/strong> grossed $19 million, up 11%. When the news is this good there&#8217;s not much need to say anything more.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of good news, <strong>Missouri<\/strong> had it too, unlike <!--more-->becalmed <strong>Illinois<\/strong> across the river. Show-Me State casinos grossed $152.5 million, a 5% gain and one not to be explained away by an extra weekend day in May. <strong>Kansas City<\/strong> was going great guns, up 12.5%. More specifically, <strong>Harrah&#8217;s North Kansas City<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5348\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Ameristar-KC-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Ameristar-KC-2.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Ameristar-KC-2-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>soared 30% to $17.5 million, <strong>Argosy Riverside<\/strong> gained 7% to $14.5 million, <strong>Ameristar Kansas City<\/strong> edged up 3% to $17 million and even <strong>Isle of Capri<\/strong> got in on the fun, bouncing 10.5% to $6 million. <strong>St. Louis<\/strong> was more varied, with <strong>River City<\/strong> flat at $18 million, <strong>Lumiere Place<\/strong> 3% down to $14 million but gains at <strong>Ameristar St. Charles<\/strong> (6%, $23.5 million) and <strong>Hollywood Casino St. Louis<\/strong> (6%, $21 million). Outstate, the Isle of Capri flotilla was flat except in <strong>Boonville<\/strong> (up 3%, $7 million), while revenue drops at <strong>Mark Twain Casino<\/strong> (-14%) and <strong>St. Jo Frontier<\/strong> (11.5%) were probably related to flooding. St. Jo Frontier just lost several June days to flooding so look for it to get hammered when the next revenue report is issued.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>MGM Resorts International<\/strong> rolled out its <em>Hunger Games<\/em> exhibition\u2014and it was a flop. The best MGM could do by way of a bonafide <em>Hunger Games<\/em> actor was <strong>Elden Henson<\/strong> (I know: <em>Who?<\/em>), while the top local celeb in attendance was <strong>Frank Marino<\/strong>. They couldn&#8217;t even get <strong>Hans Klok<\/strong>. One might say the event was strictly from hunger.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QFxN2oDKk0E\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>* On the subject of movies, a P.G.-rated <strong>Las Vegas Strip<\/strong> (as in Post-<strong>Godzilla<\/strong>) is featured in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt3741700\/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1\"><em>Godzilla: King of the Monsters<\/em><\/a>, which gives you an obscene amount of fun for your entertainment dollar. All your favorite movie monsters (except <strong>Gammera<\/strong>) are on hand, plus there&#8217;s added value in the lovely form of <strong>Vera Farmiga<\/strong>, who is always a pleasure to watch. On the other hand, fans of the <em>X-Men<\/em> movies will want to pretend that <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt6565702\/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dark Phoenix<\/a><\/em> never happened. It shouldn&#8217;t have &#8230; and attendance in the theater was sparse while <em>Godzilla<\/em> was packing them in down the hall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Casino revenues were booming last month in Ohio, leaping 10.5% to $169.5 million.
