WSOP player <strong>Kenneth Strauss<\/strong> was arrested <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9599\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/trump-pic2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/trump-pic2.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/trump-pic2-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>there on July 27 after allegedly tweeting terroristic threats, among other malfeasances. Strauss&#8217; reign of error began at <strong>Red Rock Resort<\/strong>, where he was accused of pedophilia out by the hotel pool. He was 86&#8217;d and repaired to the president&#8217;s place, where the security director &#8220;was monitoring Strauss closely.&#8221; Strauss then caromed over to <strong>The Venetian<\/strong>, where he was reported as threatening to kill himself or anyone who came near. The police missed Strauss there but <a href=\"https:\/\/news3lv.com\/news\/local\/poker-player-indicted-on-terrorism-charge-after-threatening-las-vegas-casinos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">caught up with him<\/a> back at Trump Int&#8217;l.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, his <strong>Twitter<\/strong>\u00a0account had been busy, with such endearments as\u00a0<!--more-->\u201cAnd all Casinos that have me banned will be destroyed effective immediately\u201d and\u00a0\u201cYou will DIE! #FUCKU @POTUS\u201d being spewed into cyberspace. Strauss was busted for making terroristic threats. (The Red Rock matter is still under investigation.) Strauss is no stranger to miscreant acts on the <strong>Las Vegas Strip<\/strong>. He got kicked out of <strong>Luxor<\/strong> for exposing himself from atop a craps table and similar self-exposure at <strong>The Rio<\/strong> led to his being trespassed from the <strong>World Series of Poker<\/strong>. He seems extremely troubled and his misdeeds of last July may finally get him the punishment\u00a0he has merited.<\/p>\n<p>* Busted! <strong>China<\/strong>&#8216;s government is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vegasslotsonline.com\/news\/2019\/08\/30\/chinese-police-bust-promoters-in-online-gambling-platform-sting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">getting quite serious<\/a> about cracking down on Internet gambling. Meanwhile, the <strong>Philippines<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vegasslotsonline.com\/news\/2019\/08\/26\/philippines-will-not-comply-with-chinas-request-to-ban-online-gambling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">has rebuffed<\/a> <strong>Beijing<\/strong>&#8216;s request for a shutdown of its online-gambling industry.<\/p>\n<p>* Where has <strong>Pete Rose<\/strong> been lately? A mystery pro-baseball player is fingered in the federal indictment of bookie <strong>Clinton Reider<\/strong>, who allegedly used the ex-baller&#8217;s credit card to hide payouts. Reider drew attention to himself with an aggregate $1.5 million buy-in at <strong>Horseshoe Cleveland<\/strong> in the 2012-16 period. (Sounds like Reider needs to bone up on the niceties of money laundering.) Reider allegedly knew enough about hiding by using <strong>Western Union<\/strong> to transfer money to <strong>Latin American<\/strong> betting sites. As if that weren&#8217;t enough, Reider is also alleged to have run high-stakes poker games on the side.<\/p>\n<p>In his sports-betting operations, Reider is alleged to have favored cash payouts, although he sometimes employed <strong>PayPal<\/strong>. Feds literally pieced together collections and payments from a shredded notebook. Winnings went toward mortgage payments via the Reider parents&#8217; bank accounts. As for Ohio homeboy Rose, <strong>Casino.org<\/strong> says there is &#8220;no suggestion that he involved in this case in any way whatsoever.&#8221; Noted.<\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0<strong>Genting Group<\/strong> made a bad investment when it bought <strong>Empire Resorts<\/strong>. That&#8217;s not opinion, it&#8217;s fact. <strong>Fitch Ratings<\/strong> downgraded Genting to &#8220;negative&#8221; on the strength [<em>sic<\/em>] of the <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-20029\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Resorts-World-Catskills-300x212.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Resorts-World-Catskills-300x212.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Resorts-World-Catskills-150x106.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.lasvegasadvisor.com\/stiffs-and-georges\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Resorts-World-Catskills.jpeg 550w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Empire transaction.\u00a0\u201cHigher than expected leverage and weaker earnings performance will imply a shift from an intensive focus on capital discipline, and indicate a weaker credit profile,\u201d said Fitch. Added <strong>Casino.org<\/strong>, Genting mogul <strong>K.T. Lim<\/strong> &#8220;believes the only way the casino resort can turn profitable is to cut out lenders and remove interest, which Empire said recently it was close to defaulting on.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The other gain for Empire will be delisting from <strong>NASDAQ<\/strong>, keeping its financial misfortunes further from public scrutiny. <strong>Resorts World Catskills<\/strong>, the linchpin of the transaction, is on pace to lost $147 million this year, having lost $139 million last year. With multiple irons in the fire, including a transit line in <strong>Miami<\/strong>, this might be a poor time for Genting to be lunging after a casino in <strong>Japan<\/strong>, but that&#8217;s just what Lim intends to do.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Sheldon Adelson<\/strong> might be more comfortable investing in <strong>Vietnam<\/strong> if the government follows through on its idea to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ggrasia.com\/vietnam-eases-capital-rules-for-large-casino-schemes-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">loosen the restrictions<\/a> on large investments in casinos. He&#8217;d still have to commit $2 billion. But he could get the crucial\u00a0investment registration certificate after investing only the first 50%. The overarching idea is to \u201chelp resolve difficulties for investors, and attract investment into casino and infrastructure projects connected to [special administrative economic zones], especially <strong>Van Don<\/strong>, a locality deemed to have underdeveloped infrastructure.\u201d What would really bring in investment would be if the government relaxed its two-year licenses, which necessitate an unheard-of 50% ROI.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Trump International finally made it back into the news, although not in a good way.
